Alcohol, hints, tips, advice etc.

I'v been on setriline for just over four weeks.
For stress and depression,I had two pints this monday gone after being
on an early at work and going for a quick drink before home.
Just two pints in over twenty plus days,a minor miracle for me.
I'm feeling miles better and starting to analyse myself
Starting to feel, why did I drink like I did, what was the point etc
The tablets have definately helped me get out of a lot of bad ruts including alcohol.
Still feels very very odd going to City totally sober though.

Best wishes to all.

This is definitely Hunting Season for those of us who no longer drink alcohol. Everyone and their dog and cat seem to want to get pissed. Back in the day it was good to hide in plain sight being a top up 24/7 drunk.

Thankfully with the help of the 12 step program and the fellowship (not everyone's cup of tea) I've got a dozen years of Sobriety now.

Attending Football matches in the early days wasn't that difficult for me. Although it meant having to curtail the time spent in the pre match boozers as if you keep going into the barbers shop you will end up getting a haircut.

Anyone struggling with the demon drink should be aware that they are NOT ALONE.

Have a safe and sober Christmas and a productive 2026.

I love having an alcohol-free Xmas. It's a good feeling. I'm looking forward to my usual cans of Guinness 0.0.
Too much alcohol during xmas causes people depression and anxiety without them even knowing what's caused it.
It's the ALCOHOL. It's ok when you're drinking it, but the next days are shite.

Just over 3 years of sobriety for me after 55 years of caning it, best move ever, never too late …..

As well as being an alcoholic I’m also OCD, so have to keep away of everything
That's probably why you became an alcoholic. Like me. It was always on the cards. I'm not OCD but I've suffered with bad anxiety in the past. I was agoraphobic for a long time. I wouldn't go out of the house without a good drink first ....and it was the alcohol making it worse. I'm so glad I'm out of that vicious circle ...although, now I'm stuck in the house with long COVID. haha. I must have been a right cnut in a past life.
