11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Hes just way too lazy and static. Off ball is non existant; being in the middle doesn't make much difference if you just stand around in pockets surrounded by opposition players. He barely makes a couple of sprints for whole 90 minutes.

I just don't get it, so explosive yet so lethargic.

I sometimes wonder if the fans of other clubs are so critical about their own players. Doku is having a considerable effect on nearly every game we play, and many of his stats are world-leading, yet still people here repeatedly point out what he doesn't do. How about highlighting what he does do: beats players for fun, as strong as an ox, turns defence into attack, works hard, creates danger, occupies defenders, creates chances. Successful dribbles and key passes off the scale - what more do you want?

We are bloody hard on our players at times.

The difference between Doku having a good game or a bad game is what he does with it after the dribble. The dribble is a given, no-one does it better but his use of the ball after that needs to become more consistent.

He's really good at coming inside but keeps giving it straight to opposition afterwards way too often. Did it today and 3 or 4 times in the first half on tuesday. Still, as has been said he occupies multiple players, generally keeps hold of the ball well, and was unlucky not to get a goal when he hit the post second half.

He's ticking over well enough and I'm just hoping he'll burst into life again. Will be very interesting to see how mature a performance he puts in at the bernabeu on Wednesday

Not going to be the best at everything are you! Beckham was brilliant at one thing and it made him very effective. Like saying Haaland is only the best at scoring
Sure you aren't, but it definitely isn't like saying Haaland is only the best at scoring!!

Yes.but. Flair players, esp wide flair players ,have always, since the start of football been inconsistent.its part of the make up of such a player. Creative genius not a robot
Flaws are accepted.imo
You can have a work a day full back put in 7 out of ten performances week in week out season after season, defending closing down, playing the off side trap, destroying ,fouling,.....that's easy to be consistent at.
When you have Flair players.....they are not going to beat their man and put a perfect cross over every single time.its easier to destroy than it is to create.
To create is what special players do.and quite often it's their instinctive brilliance deep into a tight match which brings the 3 pts...imo.

FWIW,I think Neto at Chelsea is the most accomplished wide player in world football.
Doku ...not far behind.

Maybe the standards of wing play are not what they used to be..?

I think theres been a big improvement in that consistency this season.

His progress is very noticeable in all aspects of the game. I think he's going to get better and better at scoring goals. He makes a lot of assists, in addition to being very creative and unbalanced with his dribbling.

Yesterday, his shot was good, but unfortunately it hit the post.

I appreciate him more and more.
