I always remember the clapping along, foot stomping songs being associated with the old North Stand. Great times.

The gaps are bad and, for a modern stand, the visible pipework is awful. Hopefully there is a plan to deal with both?

Exactly there are a few hardcore groups that sing all game.

Yes my block. We've always sang there but there are now a few small groups who sing nearly all game so keep it going longet.

Did anyone find a water fountain in the Pep stand? It was a brilliant day - but really hot. I didn't want to argue with the staff in the bars on L2 - but they insisted that I queue to buy a carton for £2.20 or so. I'm 'pretty confident' that the club needs to provide water free of charge, so want to know if there's a water fountain somewhere....

Yes I've been there about 22 years ( Jesus how time flies!!! ) I had a seat in the North stand when we first moved there but it eas too tame for me so relicated to the South stand after a year . It's taken a while but it's finally found a touch of Maine Road.

We had safe standing on the very back row for the Villa match. Thought it was going to be similar view to Newcastle away but the pitch felt nearer. Acoustics were good for game with a lot of visitors and not a lot riding on it. With the right cohort of fans in there it could be very, very loud.

There are taps with free water in the men’s toilets. ;-)

Yep, all licensed premises in England and Wales need to provide free tap water on request

They are opposite ends, if you had put the North stand on from Maine Rd the contrast would have been even bigger !

The point is more about the ambition of each stand rather than both being specific northern ends.

there is one at the swamp but sadly it only works when it rains - an unfortunate design flaw.
