Just on what I've seen of him these past 2 seasons. OK he will be playing with much better players, but I don't think he's a 50m upgrade on Navas.
Again, he's 20. You're comparing to silva in his prime. He's also not a 50m upgrade on navas, unless you're telling me we secretly got navas for free?

I'm with the, not so sure on this one, brigade. That opinion might get me a ban but what the heck. Sometimes you gotta go where eagles dare.

Sterling is a game changer,he will improve our starting eleven, those players are few and far between......the fact he is only 20,and English,is the clincher - worth whatever it takes.

I'm not sure Liverpool want to sell to us. I can guarantee that if Arsenal or Chelsea offered 40m for Sterling, it would've been accepted. Rodgers fucking hates us.

I don't know how many times this has to be pointed out to people. It's almost certain that he will improve considerably from here, and he's already very good. Why is that so hard to grasp? No there aren't any guarantees, but like with rooney and ferdinand when the rags bought them, it's about as good as you'll get

They don't want to sell to anyone, but they know they have no choice, and we'll offer more, so you can be sure they'd rather do business with us, than someone who will offer less. I'm sure they would sooner sell abroad, but again that is not the option, as nobody will offer the money they need.

This is what i feel, will he improve us and i think the answer is yes, that is all i care about.

You may point it out but it will be in one out the other!
If we signed Messi there would be people whinging about him not having the height to impact on corners, not being up for the fight at Stoke or how he doesn't track back! its not surprising some people fall for the Scouse save face propaganda there has been enough of it around.
If people can't see that city badly need the likes of sterling, if they judge a player as finished developing at 20 and think you can live life fr without taking risks then I would give them your sympathy , understanding etc rather than arguing!

This is it for me. If you look at his stats against the best players in the world when they were 20, he's generally better, Messi aside. In this 'poor season' he's just had, he created over 70 chances, unfortunately for Borini, Lambert and Mario. Whilst he'll have to defer to Silva a bit, imagine creating that many chances for Aguero - you'd be looking at 20-30 assists and his movement would have meant you could create even more.

Over the last two seasons, his pace has terrified us. Whilst Navas has it he rarely uses it, so although we'll lose some of the defensive work, there's no way anyone will play a high line against us. And his speed in and around the box will create chances, free kicks and penalties when he's linking with Silva, Aguero, Nasri, KDB etc

Exactly-

Where is the joy ? We are about to sign the best player from a team who think they are the biggest in the world - all I can think of is beahahaha and picture how he will play with silva, bony, Aguero, Nasri, de Bruyn etc. imagining how pace and trickery can unlock our attack in certain games!

Then you've got the joyless miserable p&l fans who are worrying about whether the % amortisation increase will upset the actuaries with their 7 year p and l outlooks, worrying whether a rag might go " nur nurny nur you paid 41.2m for a 38.67m player wurrr @ etc

Seriously there are accounting simulators you can play on your blackberries if you hate football so much !

I think he's a good player and potentially very, very good. I do wish people would quit implying he's going to be second only to Messi in the years to come.

I wish people would stop implying he's going to be second to Scott Sinclair.

Well, maybe we will hear something tomorrow......

I really don't understand why it takes us about a week to place a new bid.
