If I had my way we'd pay them £50m just tog et him out from that toxic wasteland and then deliver it in pennies.

they wouldn't legally have to accept it in pennies as the maximum amount under the 1974 act is 20p in pennies, it would have to be pound coins which legally they would have to accept.

pedantic comment over.

Lots of LFC fans are rubbing their hands at the prospect of ripping us off for Sterling and yet at the same time they're also foaming at the mouth at the player for trying all he can not to be priced out of a move.
Work that one out.

This is the laughable/confusing/bit. If he is so crap now in there estimation and Liverpool want 50 mil for a crap player how come that everyone including the media have gone in to hyper mode and supporters? are getting so upset at him wanting to leave.????????

I'm always appreciative of useless but knowledgeable pedantry

The only reason Sterling is supposedly losing the PR war is because the Liverpool PR machine is hell bent on painting him as some greedy upstart. Admittedly, Liverpool's assassination job is effective enough for their own fans, but the rest of the world sees through the bullshit.

What right of reply does Sterling have if he has to go through the club to conduct interviews? zilch. And if he does an interview without their permission, he's castigated for that too.

Why can't ex-LFC players simply say they don't know enough about the situation to comment? - but they don't. They all seem to know everything about it.
Phil Neal would have commented, but his fee was probably higher than Sterling's weekly wage.

Because they are a bunch of self righteous, deluded cunts.

I don't think he's worth 50m either, but you'd think if we're going to pay highly for him, he's going to be getting games - which begs the question of our formation and who loses out.

We could in theory go with 3 at the back, but I think it's unlikely, so if we have 4 at the back, Yaya and Fernandinho in the middle, and one of Bony / Serg upfront, that's only 3 places left. Silva will take one of those places, leaving two... IF that was Navas and Sterling, we're very weak in midfield.

Exactly!

With City's set up, 3 at the back is actually 5 at the back, because we know we are going to play 2 full backs as well, which means you steal ANOTHER slot from the midfield/forward line.

And, for those talking like Sterling plays on the right, in Navas' slot, you need to look at some video. He might spend some time there, but his game is not Navas' game, because Jesus likes getting down the line and trying to get something in the box for others. Sterling? Not so much!

I just read this on the talkshite website which if the OPTA stats are correct, it kind of confirms a few things as to our most effective formation...

Where's the line-up of ex City players saying what a fantastic move it would be......? Which it clearly would be. He would revel alongside Sergio, Silva, Yaya and Fernandinho

Not sure I agree with this. Buying 3 "decent" players for £50M is one reason Spurs and Liverpool have missed out on CL. Spurs brought in Soldado, Lamela, etc. after selling Bale and look where that got them. We need to buy top players and Sterling is already that at age 20. He'll only continue to improve and the money we spent for him will be irrelevant.

I was fairly specific in saying "decent," and I think Spurs overpaid immensely because they knew everyone knew they had coin burning a hole in their pocket, just like Liverpool after Suarez (Fonte for £20M+?!)

Let's just say that for £50M, we SHOULD be coming away from the table with more than Sterling and a £6-8M per year contract liability! My guess is that if he was French, he would be a £15M buy and Wenger would have him already! But, because he is English and will fill one hole for the next decade, we MIGHT be willing to waaaaay overpay for him. Football, sadly, is not just about buying the best players for the job anymore!

Navas will need to up his game to be assured of a start. Bony's probably going to be used to give Aguero a break now and then, and a few rare occasions when we play two up front.
Sterling himself is going to have to do the business to be assured of a start, otherwise Nasri (assuming he's still here) will be hot on his heels. God knows where Jovetic will get a game (but I'm assuming he's being shipped out).

If we manage to get Pogba, that raises loads more questions, is Fernandinho under threat? or will he just usurp Toure by the end of the season?

WTF? Fernando over Fernandinho? Crazy talk!! :-)

We all know 4-2-3-1 is City's best formation, but who are the 2 and 3, and which one Yaya deserves to be in, are questions that need answers! I think Pogba is part of the 2 with Fernandinho, with Yaya in the middle of the 3 and Silva and Nasri either side of him. Throw in Sterling and we now have Nasri under pressure. Throw in De Bruyne, and we have some serious options in the 2-3 department, which is EXACTLY where Pelle needs strength in depth, as Mourinho proved last season.

We need a settled back 4 to sit behind and clean up messes and then we need to let 5 WORLD CLASS players do what they do best. Aguero up top picks himself every game he is fit, and most games he is only half fit, with Bony coming in to assist when needed and to replace more frequently when Sergio is tiring.

So, who plays second center half? MDM, Mangala, or Denayer (if he signs!!!).

Starting to get an itch that may need scratching before Aug 10th!

Work that one out.

I believe the terminology is "riding two horses with one arse".

When scousers do it, it's lapped up. If our guys did it we would be accused of stirring the pot, which would make poor PR. Whatever we may or may not have said behind the scenes, we have played a very correct game in public. One day the club might actually get credited for acting with dignity on most things... although not any time soon.

Personally I think when we play with Nasri and Silva out wide the play can become very slow and predictable. Sterling hopefully will add much needed pace and directness which will in turn allow the likes of dave and Aguero space in order to raise hell. I like Navas but I feel Sterling posses more quality and will prove to be a very good player for the blues. If Nasri returns to form I would quite like to see him behind Aguero with Sterling wide right and dave wide left. That way we still get the link up play that Silva and Nasri enjoy as well as the pace of Sterling, Going to be a good season can not wait!
