If we you believe or think city felt they paid the going rate for players during that time then fine. We all know we went through a period of over paying and it was to progress that step higher
What one club values a player at isnt necessarily the same as another. And what we valued players in the past isnt necessarily the same as we would value an identical player today.

There is so much more at stake here than 5 million quid and each clubs' respective valuation of the player.

This is ultimately about two clubs exchanging places within the footballing firmament and how each one wishes to address that, and more importantly, is seen to address that.

That's why I hope we've held fast, if what Ric has passed on is correct. Wouldn't be remotely surprised if the transfer sum is 'undisclosed' in the context of the previous paragraph.

Given Ric was right to say the Delph deal wasn't straight forward, it makes the apparent Sterling news looks good for those wanting a silver lining.

Well, it's from the same source so make of that what you will.

Will we hear news this evening then @Ric of agreed fee ....your news of delph broke pretty quick after you posted it ?

Precisely, my example of that was Barca buying Suarez for 70m knowing they can make 30m back from merchandise and sponsorships, whilst Stoke could pay 70m for him, and only get 15m back from the same activities. The bigger clubs can tend to pay more because they can recover costs more effectively due to their global appeal. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's just a simple example of different value to different clubs.

In more simple terms, if you've got a crap goalie leaking goals, a new goalie might be worth 20m to you. If you've already got a world beater in goal, another good goalie's might not be worth spending on

That's what I've been saying all along Hog, scouse don't want to sell to City simple as that. Any other club offered 40m it's thank you very much and goodbye Raheem.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head there 72.

Not only that, I fear that there's a conspiracy amongst the 'so called big European clubs, in agreeing not to sell to us either... While, at the same time, quite happily doing so amongst themselves. (for massively over inflated fees).

Perfect way of ensuring that the quality of our squad will slowly deteriorate, over time, (Look what's happened since 2012) ensuring that we will "soon be put back in our rightful place," and no longer pose a threat to "the elite"

think city will be quick to announce sterling as soon as it done ? given the delph gaffe , though as ric said it was delph who changed his mind last minute
