De Bruyne?

My only worry is that Pellegrini seems unsure of the midfield. Playing Nasri in the midfield 3 has been a disaster twice and fair enough, pre-season is the time to experiment, but it looks like he is searching for midfield options because we're lacking.

Hopefully he's just looking for a place for Nasri in the new formation, and his hand was forced by injuries. Thinking Evans-Nasri-Silva was going to be OK away from home... I just hope he's got that out of his system.

I will agree that some people are being way too dismissive of Delph, Denayer & Iheanacho. Delph is not an £8m quality player, he'd probably have cost 3x that without the buyout clause. Denayer has shown he's good enough, for Celtic in Europe last season and for Belgium. Iheanacho has had 2 goals and 3 assists, linked up brilliantly wiith Sterling all preseason, and some people are panicking because we've lost Jovetic...

Playing Nasri in midfield was more a case of getting him some important minutes on the pitch to build fitness. I'm sure Pellegrini will have noticed how it didn't work particularly well, but it's the perfect place to build fitness, he had to do a lot of running in the middle of the park.

One thing I think we will see more of is Silva in the no.10 role - he's flourished there. The only trouble is I can't see Yaya being benched which means he'll play in the middle and our defence will be exposed. As good as Yaya can be, I'd rather we played two energetic players in the middle for more balance.

If we sign De Bruyne we've an excellent array of attacking options. With Fernandinho and Delph we have a couple of high energy midfielders, my main concern this season is at left back and is over whether Yaya can still perform in midfield, if we look to play Silva in the no.10 role...

So the club is open to selling and the player is open to moving...

Only City could drag this out by NOT EVEN MAKING A BID. This should be as simple as a transfer gets but it's taken us longer than it did to wrestle Sterling from the scouser's grip.
So every one at city is incompetent or we don't understand the complexities of these deals which do you think is more likely ?

Sorry Marv, but I can't get my head around Delph, he wouldn't have been good enough for us four years ago, he's got so little on the ball quality. Towards the end of the season, Lampard played behind Aguero and was excellent, he became another runner who caused space. Milner too. Don't forget Lampard won us a lot of points last year.
That's all crap. All of it.

Just maybe we are letting wolfsburg find/seal a deal for his replacement! Always thought city live would be an ideal night to announce him!
As impressive as it would be, it just won't happen.

No matter how quiet and professional we have been, we won't have it sealed and just waiting for City live to announce it. It's just like when people say we are waiting for a new kit, or something. I really don't think it could happen like that mate!

No it isn't, people on here are lauding Delph making out as If he's a great buy, the fact that no other top four club wanted him shows me he isn't that great. He brings energy, so does Fernandinho and Milner (as well as more quality). De Bruyne, whilst could be argued we don't need as much as an anchorman, is a huge upgrade on Navas and Nasri.

Agreed mate, Delph is a middle of the table signing. Totally desperate for homegrown players and he was an easy cheap option.

We're not. We will he if we add KDB and a top anchorman. As of yet, I don't think we are.
But we are.

Bony and Nacho are better than Dzeko and Jovetic who offered nothing last season.

Lampard was poor save for one goal against Chelsea and half a dozen games off the bench early doors. Delph will get far more game time, and has the legs that we were missing in midfield.

And Sterling is a huge upgrade on Milner.

All of that ignores Lopes, Garcia and Roberts.

If you can't follow the logic above then I can't really spell it out any simpler for you.

(And I still think we will add at least two more players before September 1st anyway)

This, excluding the Lampard part.

the lads an England international ,he showed when we played villa at home he can run a game, and that's surrounded by far less superior players(sorry if that sounds arrogant)he will thrive at city(I hope)

Totally agree. Just Sterling alone improves our starting eleven considerably and him, Silva, Kun together is truely mouthwatering.

Like Sterling you mean ??

Lampard was very good against Roma, Bayern and Leicester as well.

Delph is still the Captain of his club, or was, and he's an international player. A good addition to the squad. No one is saying that he Will transform City's midfield. But his addition covers the departures, and the addition of Sterling adds something extra.....and remember that we won't be spending months bedding in Mangala,Fernando and Bony.

We are already stronger.....on paper......and we are still in for players. I am assuming that Kompany is going to be OK. That and Toure declining still further are the areas of concern.
