Otamendi

Can't disagree that Demi made some fuckups but the whole defence was a fuckup last season to me, & the whole team defensively so it's hard to say whether that's a sign of the general malaise imo. Zaba & VK were City's two worst defenders last season for me.

But I'd like to see us bite the bullet now & let Demi go.
I was specifically referring to the end games when were on a roll of 6 wins
I like DeMichelis a lot, but he just looked suddenly old.

I'd prefer to let him go now or have him at the equal choice to Denayer

I think Otamendi is being bought for the Champions League.

I just think as we saw in his highlights against the the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar, Suarez etc.. in La Liga last season, he can put in a good shift against that quality of player.

I actually think his size is better suited to dealing with a Messi or a Suarez for example.

I think this is a great shout. Kompany against the likes of Sterling, and Mangala against a few players with real pace last season, struggled. Perhaps having a smaller centre back with a lower centre of gravity and quick on the turn will give us a better option against faster, smaller, trickier players, than what we had last season.

A comparison of other teams CB's right now;

Us - Kompany, Mangala, Otamendi, Demichelis (Denayer loaned out possibly)
Chelsea - Terry, Cahill, Zouma, Ivanovic (Providing Everton keep Stones)
Arsenal - Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gabriel, Chambers
Rags - Smalling, Rojo, Jones, Blind
Liverpool - Skrtel, Lovren, Sakho, Kolo
Tottenham - Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Fazio, Dier

I thought our team was still the strongest at the start of the season but with Toure, Kompany & Mangala playing much better already and Otamendi now added it just gets better and better.
Don't think Terry will be at the Chavs much longer, if Mouriniho stays, to be honest. Judging by Sunday's shinanigins, I Can't see that rift being healed in a hurry.

There are two CM positions, two players for each position: Yaya Fernandinho Delph and Demichelis would be a good fit for the four for me.

Kompany Mangala Otamendi and Denayer the four for the two CH positions.

Imagine Delph and Dinho were injured. In fact we are not that far from that as it is. Yaya and MdM in midfield against Bayern or Barca.

Can Denayer play in midfield?

Don't think it's wrong to be disappointed Denayer looks as if he'll need to be loaned. But I wouldn't be too concerned, he and his agent will have been well looked after this summer by the club, you can be sure of that. Still would not rule out him staying and Demichellis either leaving or being DM cover instead.

As for people worried about Mangala and his state of mind, he's just had two of his best games in a City shirt. If you think this was news to him when it was news to us you're wide of the mark.

I'd bet good money he and Vinnie knew about this possibility before we kicked off at WBA or maybe slightly after.

If having Otamendi breathing down his and Vinnie's neck gets the kind of performances we saw on Sunday instead of the joke we saw at Stuttgart and parts of last season, I'd say he'd easily be worth £30million even if he sat on the bench all season.

I stopped discussing the subject when you decided that, as I had a different opinion to you, I was talking bollocks. That was the point, in case you were wondering, when you acted like a grade A bellend.

Well now you have returned to insult me again. But if I do it back, you'll stop me.

And it's not because you had a different opinion. It's because the one you espoused with a load of exclaimation marks as if to indicate I was being stupid, is that Otamendi, because he is 27, won't have to learn the job in the Premier League.

That is a right load of old bollocks.

He'll have to adjust to the Premier League, as any new player will, but, at 27, he's certainly not have to "learn the job" of being a centre half. Denayer will need to adjuct to the Premier League too, plus he's only 20 so is still learning his trade as a centre half. To try and equate the two is what, to use your words, is a "right load of bollocks".

Anyway, I'm done with this, and you now. What could have been a decent discussion from 2 different viewpoints was ruined by your failure to be able to discuss things without insulting someone elses opinions. I simply responded in kind.

No you didn't, you insulted me & then kept coming back to do it again.

I have no problem with either you insulting me or my opinion.

You asked the question.

Wouldn't we rather buy the 21 year old Englishman John Stones for this sort of money?

Otamendi is reportedly going to be valued at 32m and he's 27 years old.
