@City_Watch: City have also offered youngster Marcos Lopes (19) on loan to Valencia as part of the Otamendi deal. (via @dmestalla)

Maybe we've rethought this after seeing Mangalas settled and offered them Lopes on loan instead he hasn't been in either of the squads and we had 3 defenders on the bench today instead of him

Don't think we need him at all.

We really need a WC midfielder if we are going to get going in Europe. Yaya, Delph and Dinho is not going to cut it. I can understand the thinking after VK and Mangala were so poor last year but I'd drop it right now.

Nothing surprises me when some of our fans feel they can stick the boot in.

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they were Mangalas biggest detractors last season either.

Fuck em

Who are these imaginary blues?

I was at the game, and was one of the most vocal in preferring Mangala over Benatia last year. I was always of the opinion that we should be patient with Mangala, many a Porto fan said he had to iron out a few rough edges, and that was evident least season.

And I'm being just as vocal now in saying we shouldn't ship him out when he looks to be settling.

You can't put everyone who expresses criticism in any respect into some little box to dismiss them and their opinions.

Sorry ono, I think you're wrong on this occasion. Oti is a class defender, and will make us a lot stronger. I trust the club and pellers. They know more than we do, or we would all be prem managers.
To be fair we have a poor record when it comes to signing centre backs recently.

Spanish journalist Gulliem Balague has tweeted thatManchester City have wrapped up a deal for Valenciadefender Nicolas Otamendi.

The Argentine centre-back was heavily linked with a move to city rivals Manchester United during the summer.

However, Balague claims that the Citizens have beaten the Red Devils to the signature of the 27-year-old after having a €40m (£28.4m) offer accepted by Los Che, with the transfer being officially confirmed on Monday.

It is reported that Eliaquim Mangala, who joined City from Porto last summer, will join the Spanish giants on a season-long loan as part of the deal.

Balague has also suggested that Real Madrid were willing to pay Otamendi's €50m release clause, if Sergio Ramos had left the club during the close season.

Tomorrow all confirmed: Otamendi to City for €40m and Mangala on loan. Real Madrid would have paid €50m buy out clause if Ramos had gone

Haha, petty and

I didn't.

a hippocrite then...

I don't think bringing a defender with no PL experience and letting one we're just starting to bed, is a good move. You think Otamendi is an upgrade, i'll go with a strange risk at best. Thats my opinion, which being a forum, is full of them.

Don't know why you seem to have such an issue with me saying that.

Just hope they've got the part about Mangala going the other way wrong. Otherwise it sounds a decent deal....
