I've heard some things in my time but this tops it. Stop being so arrogant and delusional. If those teams you listed were so good then why haven't they been successful in europe? Juve would win the prem by at least 10 points
Your last sentence tops anything I've heard so I guess it evens up.
There's nothing arrogant about thinking the team we put out last night was good enough to beat a Juventus who aren't a patch on the one that ended last season.
As it happens we should have won the game even after having so many lacklustre performances. I'd suggest a City team firing on all cylinders would have won the game comfortably.
Credit to them for doing what we have been constantly failing to do since we got in the competition, seeing out a game and taking the points after an unconvincing showing.

We lost because we didn't take chances, as opposed to losing because we didn't turn up, so we are progressing...

And south stand level 1 was fantastic last night.

I thought we played well, but playing well isn't enough, you have to be canny in Europe against a wily outfit like Juventus. For me there are 2 reasons we lost, first taking chances, they took theirs, we didn't take ours. Second was the pace of the game, we played right into their hands by playing slowly - this style is what they're most comfortable playing and thus they were able to be organised and get men behind the ball. What we needed to do was hit them with pace and width and we could have opened them up for a comfortable win, this I put down to team selection.

Still, a loss is good for the soul, recover and we move on to West Ham

I think you did to be honest.

It's not the best comparison, but the Wiiiiist Hiiiim v Newcastle match on Monday - Newcastle 60-odd% possession, more shots on target, more corners and they lose 2-0. We had similar last night. Apart from the goal scoring statistic, Juve got a stuffing! But in the area that counts, we got a stuffing, and a lesson in finishing - classical, continental finishing! Juve are not the team from last season, and they were ripe for plucking, but we played some of the wrong starters, our talismen didn't give us their best we know they have, and heigh ho, onto Saturday!

Next you will be saying barca would struggle to make the top 10 in the great premier league.

Manager isn't to blame, the players are. Remember our manager was seconds away from taking malaga to the semi finals 2 years go and managed to take villareal to the semi finals. He has the pedigree, some of the players like yaya and nasri are an embarrassment at times

So who's at fault? The manager who couldn't see that those two have been absolutely wank for the past four campaigns or the fans?

Have to say pelegrini been excellent while he's been here especially Domestically but come the champs league he is naive or just to scared to change anything when you need to, in premier come the 60th minute he's looking for a change so why not last night? I could see the problem surly pelegrini does so at being 1-0 up still at the 60th minute he thinks let's not change owt where as premier he would! On the 60th minute at 1-0 he should of took either Nasri or silva off and brought Navas on a simple sub and an effective one it would of bene! Baffling from Pelegrín.

Too many people are conducting too deep an investigation as to why we lost. We got done by two very good goals, granted when you look back they could be stopped, but nonetheless it was clinical. I've seen people say we got done by a Juve master class, which is also quite frankly bollocks. If Juve had given us absolutely nothing to feed off and scored their 2 goals then yes, they would have played it well. But that's not how it happened. We had several good chances to score and I think if anyone was on the back foot for the majority of the game, it was Juve. I thought defensively we were very good again, Mandzukic et al only had scraps to go off all evening but unfortunately that was all they needed.

Granted I agree with many that sometimes it was a bit slow going forward, Nasri's inclusion and inclination to keep ball as opposed to run at people didn't really help us there. Bony also, despite trying, isn't the type of forward to stretch a defence and run in behind. So improved, yes, it could have been. But as bad as people are making out? No, not at all. Both teams were well drilled defensively, we created more chances than Juve, just a difference in finishing that set us apart. No need for an inquest, onto West Ham.

Agree with most of that but 1-0 up we should be looking to defend that

I agree, but we were way to deep to be a constant threat, hence the lack of shots

Toure and ferna were within a few yards of each other through most of the game, one of them should have pushed further forward, and gave one of their DM's a problem, of whether to stay with silva, or go with toure

Our midfield made it to easy to defend against

I agree, I was baffled to see Toure so deep when we were attacking. However, I don't blame Pellegrini for that, so often people have told him to be more pragmatic in Europe and sure it up a bit more, and that's what he did. I don't remember their midfield getting in many dangerous positions, bar Pogba for the goal. So yes, Pellegrini could have pushed Toure up further, but then if we'd been done on the counter because of Toure being out of position, people would have bollocked him for being too open and naive by not respecting our opponents. But if it's not that, then by being pragmatic and trying to sure it up, we are showing TOO much respect. The guy can't win. The problem was that the lads who got the chances to score and needed to create didn't do their jobs. Silva was off the boil and Sterling couldn't finish. Regardless of Toure being too deep, we had enough chances to win the game and we should have taken them.

Changing gears slightly. Did the Mancini chant go up during the match ? Came across loud and clear on French TV.
Unless it was from the Juve fans I don't think so? I certainly didn't hear it from the East Stand. I'd have joined in if I had... :-)

Agree mate, wouldn't have argued with Pellers if he had taken off Nasri or Silva and brought on a more defensive minded player. But we'd been reasonably comfortable dealing with Juve's attacks, and come their goal you didn't get one of those feelings where you feel, 'we need to sure this up now'. Both their goals didn't come from a dominance in play, they were quite out of the blue.

Couple of people I know who were at the game said it definitely went up. Was curious as it was so clear on the TV coverage it could almost have been a canned chant.

Had to work last night and had misfortune to listen to Alan Green on 5 live. What a bitter hateful bloke. Every lull in the action was used to slag off the club, players or the fans.
Got home and watched a different match. 2 competitive skillful clubs. Result could have gone either way. Some great saves by Buffon. 2 goals from Juve that wouldn't have gone in on another night.
OK, not our most fluent performance but you can only play as well as a good opposition let you. No need to panic

It may have done then, couldn't make it out myself. I sit in 308 so can often hear the South Stand when they get songs going but there's times when there are a couple going at once and it becomes muffled.
I'd find it a bit disrespectful to hear it being sung these days, however much of a fan of his I was.

Navas should of been on for either Nasri or silva sure up that right side with his defensive ability
