Vinny started for Belgium after being asked not to, having missed two previous games for the club that pays his wages.. If the Boss want to punish Vinny for that I am totally fine with it. Extra rest will ensure a better recovery anyway.

Off topic slightly but I hope Pellegrini plays him against United. I can't help but think he's handled this brilliantly. Not only has he put down a marker to the players to think twice about putting club before country but Kompany will be up for this game even more now as he will feel he needs to prove himself!
I said exactly this. Yaya does not deserve the Captain arm band. Someone who has passion and will actually work like a captain should Kolorov, Hart or Zaba IMO.

Both kolarov and hart neednl to focus squarely on their own game. Zab should be our captain though when Kompany isn't.

Id be happy with any of them as captain.
Because for me they are much more prone to mistakes. I think it takes a certain mindset, other than just passion, to be captain.
There is obviously an issue between the two, with Pelegrini not being happy about him playing the game against Israel.
I remember before the international break there were stories of City allowing VK to join up with the Belgium squad with the understanding that he wouldn't play. I would definitely assume that MP and VK would have had a conversation around this prior to the break

I agree for me Kompany must start Sunday. But Manuel does have a problem. We've now won 4 on the spin with Mangala & Otamendi. If it wasn't Kompany you wouldn't change it. Squad harmony is as important as one game, more so. We've seen what happens if you disrespect players and treat them like machines over at Chelsea. Otamendi & Mangala are established international footballers cost £30 million a peice, it's simply not a case of dropping one, especially after winning 4 on the spin.

City cannot refuse to send him if he's not completely broken.
If he hadn't played the match he did (Tuesday), and if Belgium deemed him fit to play, he'd have been ineligible for the Bournemouth game anyway (within 5 days).
MP isn't annoyed at Kompany, as he has no jurisdiction over the Belgium appearance.

Otamendi and Mangala are used to defending in a European style club game, it wasn't much of a risk to play them against Sevilla given their form. Although we've won with this pairing there have been two goals where the striker was not closed down in the centre.
Leaving our captain out was a good call to ensure that he didn't pick up a knock before the Derby where he will need to be as fit as possible.
It's likely that Rooney will get him sent off again, particularly as clattenburg will seine the earliest opportunity. Then he will be able to continue his rehabilitation without made up media stories

The thing that is slightly worrying is that this is kinda mirroring the HSV - Kompany rift. HSV wanted Kompany back from the Olympics where Belgium was playing the semi-finals.
Kompany is a proud Belgian and will play for his country when he feels fit ... not much will change that.

Mr Pellegrini is not the one who started the rumours about a rift between him and Vincent Kompany. He will pick the best team and if Vincent Kompany is capable of playing a full match then he will get a full match, IF the boss man says so. Not if any of the fans say so but if it is best for the team.
And I say that as one of Vincent Kompany's biggest fans, as anyone who knows me will tell you!! Vinnie himself would want what is best for the team, he is not a selfish player. He is not a YaYa sulking because he doesn't get his own way, he is Vincent Kompany, Captain Magnificent.

All true Eccles but if Manuel can't see that otamendi and mangala if they play the same as the other night will get destroyed on Sunday! A settled defence is obviously vital but at the start of the season we had sagna, kompany, mangala and kolarov as our back 4 and it was great! All these players are fit again now and should start on Sunday.
