City v Hull - pre-match thread

Playing the odd one V a team from the Championship should not make too much different to the result

The odd 'un will come from the EDS, not the U16s! One or two shouldn't make a difference. Willy in net, solid back four, couple of greyhounds covering the middle, decent set of strikers and a couple of kids. I expect Pellers to be on the phone before the press conference. to see if I have anybody particular in mind.

a nice 2-0 win and no injuries please

Would love to see Nacho get a start, we need to give him minutes if we actually intend to reap the benefits of his obvious potential

-Sagna--Demichelis--Otamendi---Clichy
Fernando
-----Navas---Silva---Delph--De Bruyne
Aguero

Subs: Wright, Maffeo, Adarabioyo, Toure, Sterling, Kalechi, Bony

Semi final up for grabs. No taking the win for granted. Hopefully get SIlva and Aguero off at HT

2nd half if we can grab a few early

This post is so beautifully laid out it deserves a reply.

I don't agree with your team though, I wouldn't start Aguero or KDB.

Pellers is not a big friend of experiments. He would need a very good reason for himself to drop a fully fit forward like Bony to let young Kelechi start. I cannot see that. Pellers is aware that it would be a slap for Bony that way. Kelechi for MP still is a sub who always should be ready for a next chance. There still is a hierarchy in a team which is important. Mix it up without a good reason and it takes some time for stabilizing.

Bony was brought to City to score. This game is a next chance to feed him the way he needs. By missing Sergio too often we cannot afford to drop Bony right now. Or maybe not yet. For sure he has to deliver some time soon.

Part of me would love to see KDB, Silva and Aguero tonight but I also can't wait to see them play together at the weekend so I probably wouldn't risk it. Pellegrini will go with a strong team though especially as we are near the business end of the competition. Just hoping for a comfortable win and no injuries.

I fully expect Clichy and Sagna (our more defensive fullbacks) to play and Silva to start, we'll play more through the middle, and Pellegrini will top it off by playing Bony upfront who will suffer another frustrating night, offering absolutely nothing to the team because we give him no service from the wings.

Don't think it has anything to do with where the service comes from, Bony reminds me of Torres at Chelsea, neither had any idea what was expected of them and had no idea where to run.....

I'd still expect Pelli to start him over Nacho as that's how Pelli operates and I suppose as we fucked up the CL squad he needs game time.

Really want a result tonight, Wembley is just around the corner.

Why don't we start Maffeo ?

I rate him higher than any EDS player and he is good enough to start against Hull.

I wouldn't risk Silva starting. Bony up front with Nacho behind him as Pellers doesn't see him as a striker. Silva on for nacho around min 65. We should not do our usual trick of underestimating lesser teams but I wouldn't mind seeing Roberts and a younger defender start as well.

Aguero and kdb should be rested tonight ESP aguero wouldn't risk him. Nacho hopefully gets a start with bony.. Delph also gets another run out he's been good since he's come back.

Really should be resting Sagna, can't afford to risk another injury if Zabs is out. Maffeo can surely do a job there.
