I am one of those who think he is a bone idle lazy arse in many games.

But by Christ when he decides to play he is just awesome, we need that side of him from now until the end of the season or we are stuffed.

He has awesome moments i games, but it's nothing likewhat it was.

We didn't fully appreciate him. But now most of you wont accept that he' gone. And it's not lazines although it does look that way

The difference between the two League games and the Cup Final was that the whole side physically fought Liverpool at Wembley. Have you all forgotten that? Liverpool humiliated us at home with Toure. It would have been worse had Toure played this week at Anfield.

The side was dead on its feet as it was. Put Toure in there, it would have been worse not better.

Injuries and poor team selection were also factors in the Liverpool home defeat. Yaya need to play with two other central midfielders and then he's usually excellent.

Although Yaya has taken a lot of criticism over the last year or so, IMHO he has cemented his position amongst our all time greats.

I hope the Club's or 1894's next investment in displays, pictures etc honours possibly our greatest ever player. Sir Yaya Toure!

But his legs have gone and can no longer perform to the level he once could

Yes he works better with another 2 in midfield but that is so they can be work horses for him

I think the other benefit of the 3 is the extra man to screen the defence. Yaya is not mobile enough to be the main guy doing this as shown at West Ham away. Share the workload more and Yaya still has plenty to offer, though he can no longer start every game!

The two most influential City players in modern times will be seen to be Tony Book for his captaincy and Yaya Toure as a force of nature.

Yaya has amazing control and vision for a big man yet when in his stride is unstoppable like a train. Lets not forget his goals. Many exquisite but also game winners when the chips were down. David Silva is a magician but everything in recent years has gone through Yaya who has shaped our play.

He is a leader on the pitch but getting older and slower. He still has a lot to offer needs other players around to step up. Yaya will go down as an all time great in the Premier League, not just at City. Too many of the City players are not even playing to their potential exposing Yayas weaknesses rather than let him strut his stuff.

Impossible to say for certain either way.

What I thought we lacked most on Wednesday night was a physical presence to make the ball stick in the attacking third, Liverpool bullied us out of possession every time we got near their goal, I think Yaya's presence would've made a difference in that regard, it would've at least meant that Can didn't have free rein to dominate that area of the pitch.

ok over the top with that one, its still not very good though is it ?

I think our midfield is very good, its just not firing at the moment. Maybe I have my sky blue specs on here but I honestly wouldn't swap our midfield for anyone elses in the prem, despite our current form.

Oh I get it, it doesn't fit in with your story so lets just all forget about it, haha!!
Give over.

The line ups were vastly different. 3 of the back 4 were different back in the home game. None of the defenders playing that day were comfortable on the ball, and the midfielders on show weren't much better. Yaya was the only ball carrier in the defensive area of the pitch and as such was targeted. We fared no better once he was taken off.

I compared the two games last week because the line ups were very similar, the main difference being Yaya not playing and Fernandinho having to move back in field. We got to see how we would look with 'legs and energy' in midfield and it turns out, it's utter utter shite because the numpties who have been calling it for it all season forgot to factor in that quality on the ball is far more important than running around like a cat chasing a balloon.....which is seemingly what a boat load of people on here would prefer to watch.

The thing is that we can't play without him, but when we play with him people say he contributes little. The reality is that we haven't been able to win without him for 5 years now. Management knows this and that's why we've been linked with Pogba for so long. In fact, I'm shocked we didn't go for Kondogbia too.

The only other player we have that can drop deep for the ball, pass under pressure AND run with it at his feet.......is Nasri. Silva can do it, but if he does it then that gives the entire opposition defence time to reorganize and slows us down. Nasri has been a bigger miss than we realize
Your common sense is wasted on here mate

Or maybe it was because we made 2 changes and they made 5/6 I believe and were fresher than us and overpowered us, if Yaya had played (what would have been his third game in a week) it could have been a whole lot worse. Our long list of injured players caught up on us.

In terms of this "quality on the ball" I'm a little bit mystified, Yaya has played more than anyone this season and we've been absolutely shit on the ball all season. Before you start crying, I'm not just blaming him but he has been a significant part to play considering he's the central pivot in the team given his role.

Our central midfield is absolutely dog shit, we have way too many weaknesses that are way too easy to exploit. There's only really Fernandinho who can be trusted, maybe Delph can be too in future but we haven't seen enough of him because of injuries. Yaya is too slow in possession these days and a defensive liability and Fernando, I don't even know where to start.

Delph better than Yaya is quite laughable still mate. We would be an even bigger rudderless ship, but hey, who cares about quality, let's just burst our guts running around. Not slagging Delph, but he is completely different to Yaya and a good player as a backup for Dinho.

Great point about legs in midfield. We can only do that if we have silva and Nasri who can be the possession players. With no Nasri and an out of form silva, we have Sterling and Navas. No players who can keep possession. We can survive without yaya, just not with the current injury situation.

I think it will be a mistake to get rid of Yaya. This midfield is not yet ready to play the level of technical football that Pep likes to and he will need Yaya atleast for 1 season.
