Yaya

No way would I get rid of Yaya in the summer. I know Villa are shite but once again he pops up with the first goal. We'll need him for this run in.

I think it will be a mistake to get rid of Yaya. This midfield is not yet ready to play the level of technical football that Pep likes to and he will need Yaya atleast for 1 season.
That depends entirely only who we purchase in the summer.

And bookmark this post as I guarantee our focus will be fullbacks and midfielders in the offseason.

Credit to Aguero for his brace today, but Yaya was dominant yet again and scored the opening goal. My MOM. Keep it up Yaya!

Agreed with the last part but I think even Yaya's biggest fans would have doubts of him being able to put up with the intensity of being in a Pep team. Some call it laziness, some call it age but it's not hard to see that the tempo of his game is slowing.

That said, he was impressive in the first half (didn't get to see the second) and he's coming back into form at just the right time. He will shine in these last few weeks.

The thing is i've watched Bayern a bit this season and it looks like Xabi Alonso does about as much running as Yaya does. He could easy play that role for us imo.

The link between attack and defence.

He puts his foot on it and actually gets us playing.

Yes, defensively he can go awol but when he doesnt play we miss him.

Thats said, Pogba will mean i wont miss him all that much next season ;-)

The sort of game Yaya flourishes in. We had complete control of the ball the whole match and he had all the time in the world to do his thing.

That's a fair point but I think the difference is that Alonso is more disciplined in terms of his positioning. Yaya is encouraged to bring the ball forward because his offensive skills are breathtaking at times. I think it's the recovering from these attacks that is becoming harder for him.

He'll either need to start sitting back and letting the others do all that or he'll have to be played in a higher position and to his strengths. Whichever position Pep might have in mind for him, I guarantee that he would perform it differently to how he has done under Manuel.

Cometh the hour, cometh the Yaya. That game where the cheers were going up when he was being subbed seems a long time ago. Anyone involved in that should hang their heads in shame.

Yaya Toure. One of, if not the, best player to play for the club. Unbelievable talent, unplayable most of the time, it's been an absolute pleasure to watch him perform every week.

He could play, and look good against Villa three times a week tbf.
That's not to have a go, but it's the truth. Still a special player, we all know that. Here's hoping he's got enough left in the tank to finish this season strong. Who knows where we'll end up if he does.

Spot on about Villa.

Ive seen some shit City sides out played over the years but that Villa team today where a complete embarrassment.

You might be surprised but Alonso often runs more than 12 km a match and has more than 60 intensive runs. Very good values.
