Julian Weigl

Impressed with him tonight against Spurs.

I thought he looked very neat and tidy on the ball. Never gave it away and good range of passing, although he mainly kept it simple.

Personally I thought he looked a bit lightweight to play as a holding player in the PL though. He barely made a tackle, he didn't have to because Dortmund were so dominant, but I could see him getting a bit bullied in the PL.

He looked like a more high energy Daley Blind to me. Excellent footballer on the ball, but probably lacks the pace, physicality and agression to be a top holding player in the Premier League.

He's got bags of potential and is clearly a talent, but personally I think Gundogen looks a much better fit for us.

Perhaps, but if Pep can get us playing like Dortmund tonight, then he won't need to be a holding player, I'd take both, but I'm greedy.

Just watched last night's Dortmund/Spurs game and Weigl was pretty incredible.

His vision and passing from deep was unbelievable at times. It was on the level of Sergio Busquets. Picking the ball up from the holding midfield role and playing terrific passes through an organised Spurs side. Exactly the type of player we lack, we haven't really got anyone with that passing from deep. Maybe Yaya is capable of it at times, but not like this.

This was the first time I've watched Weigl and I was seriously impressed. He was cutting through a well organised Spurs team with ease with his passing.

I much prefer us to sign Weigl more than Xhaka to be honest. Weigl, Gundogan, Pogba is an amazing core CMs.

Watched this kid play for Dortmund yesterday and was once again impressed with his quality. Dortmund did not have one of their better days but he still stood out as a player of immense potential at only 20 years of age. He is constantly aware of what's going on around him and acts as that anchor between midfield and defence. Passing game is also good.
Hope he is on Peps radar because Weigl will without be a star for many years to come.

With Xhaka being strongly linked to Arsenal maybe City are favouring the signing of Weigl.

For sure Pep will know which he favours as will City.

Now here's the thing, anyone with room to improve has immense potential!

Even 48 year old me.

I'm of the opinion that anyone we buy for our squad is the finished article. Taking a chance on potential should be kept to the completely free versions that are available from the CFA.

This is what we usually say whenever we are linked to new players, but after we signed them we say they don't fit the system or we wasted our money on these players.
