Could be the biggest mistake we ever make if we don't move for this lad this summer.

Absolute world class potential stamped right through him. Let him make his mistakes here, pay whatever it takes, and cherish what he can become, having had Pep take him on.

not like we aren't used to Cb's making mistakes!

Do you know him, though?

I know a couple of people at Everton and he's about as down to earth as they come, an absolutely smashing trainer and very good family.

He's an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, and can't believe people can't see it even now.

They said the same about Rio, cocky bastard, liked to fancy himself as a baller, played himself into trouble.

I would like to think the great Alan Hansen knows a thing or two about defenders and he is also on record saying he's about the closest thing he's seen to him in current day.

Don't know mate just doesn't strike me as a great player. As someone mentioned above gesturing to the fans to calm down when he was messing about with the ball in the box. Hope he proves me wrong IF he does come but what was the point in buying otamendi and mangala in the last 2 seasons? Especially with denayer returning do we need another CB?

Not sure I agree with him being the biggest mistake we'd make or for us to pay whatever it takes for him but there's definitely a player in there.

You are about to see hyper-inflation take hold of this league, the like, nobody has ever seen, even bog-standard players.

The Premier League gravy train, the last stop.

Stones at anything under £50m will seem brilliant business in comparison to what we will see.

Especially so, if we get ten years out of him.

Would this be as well as Laporte or instead of tolm?

Laporte and Stone are very promising players. But I would sooner pay Juve the money and get Bonucci, for me, he is the absolute dogs bollocks.

Stones is a few years away from what we need. Would sooner get Bonucci, lock down CB for 5 years and look again in 3 or 4 years, hopefully a City grad

I would argue Stones has something on both of Otamendi and Mangala. Firstly, superior ball playing attributes, certainly more compatible with the style attributed to Pep. He also has years on them, coupled with already tested in the Premier League.

I would take Denayer and Stones over Otamendi and Mangala any day of the week, certainly in the long-term.

Vinny has two years at best, we need to play the long game and trust in Pep.

Stones is effortless over the ground, quicker than people realise and the things he needs to eradicate comes with experience.

I like Stones but given the choice, I would take Laporte. I reckon they could be two of the stand out defenders in world football in a few years.

'I can confirm I have committed to providing additional funds for transfers and retaining our key players to ensure that we have a strong core to build on for the future.'

Stones is a stopper says the new toffee moneyman, Txiki needs to chew that over.

You can coach the positional sense/intelligence, him being a kid I expect him to improve, however, his Achilles heel is mentioned above, he'll get exposed at the very top....
I'm sure you can teach it to an extent, but clearly some players are naturally better at it than others and some naturally make better decisions than others, otherwise all defenders would be as good as each other and the biggest, quickest and strongest would always be the best. Instead it's the intelligent ones who tend to rise to the top, although a certain amount of physicality is needed as well. In my opinion, Stones reads the game really badly and makes bad decisions and I'm not convinced that you can train someone to become excellent in that respect.

Well, that makes me more confident than anything else we'll get him.

I genuinely can't tell if Stones will be a fantastic defender. Under Martinez it's impossible to tell, any defender would look kinda shit under his management.
Yet Funes Mori doesn't look half bad. It's Stones making mistakes, not the coach's philosophy. He'll grow out of it. That said, ID rather have Larpote.
