What are we expecting from Pep's first season?

i think the euros this summer could cause us problems, not I want him to delay coming here- but it won't be good for Guardiola coming into a club with only a handful of players to manage, and any new ones will either be early (meaning they'd have only a few players to help settle them in) or late which could effect our start of the season.

League title, a domestic Cup & the Champions League semis, with obvious improvement on the pitch. I think that's the minimum Pep would be setting himself.

Minimum the PL title.

Both baffling and hilarious people are lowering expectations for the best manager in the world.

If we don't finish in the top 4 (and on form it's not looking likely with West Ham closing in) the first year might not be easy as we won't get the very top players in the summer.

We dont need much to compete with Arsenal, Leicester and Spurs.

Look at the players we do have. We need one player in the midfield and better luck with injuries which robbed us of our best players for months at a time.

Soke have signed some great players. If they can, we can wherever we finish. Where were we when we bought the core of this team?

i thought we had the best squad in the league and Pellegrini was underperforming horribly? Why then would expectations for Pep be lower. Some proper warped logic in this thread.

Belief.
Belief in a City team which will ALWAYS play like they really want to win at all costs, no matter the opposition, no matter the competition, focused, hungry. disciplined and fucking ruthless from the first second of the season the the very last whistle blow of the final game.
That is what I expect, and frankly demand.

This season has really put a dent in my love for the club due to the many piss-poor and half hearted performances. I blame mainly Pellers for this, but the players are of course also responsible.

Exactly. Pep is the world's best manager for a reason, and the fact we'll have an overhaul or at least some new personnel will mean that we'll be much better placed.

The difference to us now and next season will be absolutely astronomical .

I don't think it's worth starting a new thread just for this, but what's the deal on Vieira at New York? How long does he have to stay there? Because I'm thinking that Pep with Patrick Vieira as assistant manager is a dream ticket.Vieira is future manager material, that much is certain. Where better to go to finishing school than at the feet of the master?

It's better be good :-)
Seriously, a proper tactical setup and serious work rates would be good. Repeatable and dependable performances should become the norm.

passion and drive with a clear playing objective. Correct players chosen on merit and positional strength. Some use of youth (sensibly) for concerted challenge on all 4 fronts.

No expectation for league position and trophies as if the above is done i believe we'll have a good season.

If Paddy is to become the City manager after Pep, in my ideal world he does 2 years at NYC, Pep signs a 1 year contract extension, and Paddy comes over to be Pep's assistant for the last 2 years of his tenure at the club before handing over the reigns.

That way he has a couple of years running the show in New York and (more importantly IMO) has 2 years of absolutely solid experience working alongside the best coach in the game. I have a hard time thinking he'll be ready to step into what by then will be one of the biggest and best jobs in world football (yes I think Pep will be that good) after 3 years in New York....the product just isnt the same as European competition.

Have to disagree there marvin. We need 2 just for midfield if you ask me. Plus 2 fullbacks, a centre back and a forward, and all top quality. Time to exploit the Chinese partnership.

Injuries have had an influence especially as main players, we can't be that unlucky again.
