Time catching up with Zabaleta?

This guy has given every last ounce to this club and he will go down as a true legend.
I wish we could turn back the clock and re sign him as a 24 year old with hair.

All good things come to an end and I believe we are very close to that now.

He knows his time is up , you can see it in his demeanour .
This is not temporary. His last 2 seasons have been poor by his own standards.
His energy levels have gone and it is becoming painful to watch now.

Love you Zabba.

Fully agree. I love Zabs but it's becoming difficult to watch him play when it's so obvious he struggles with wingers with any kind of pace and ends up standing miles off them. Wish him all the best but can see him being moved on in the summer.

Its difficult to say goodbye to one of our favourite sons,a modern legend,a warrior and an inspiration....however....time,without doubt,is catching him up....and while he isnt exactly fit for the scrap heap just yet, neither is he capable of the standard that once made him the envy of the league and the very best forwards fear him. So,while I believe he could still do a very good job for us,i also think we could do a lot better this coming season and I reluctantly believe Pep will think similar.

why would we get rid of the best full back we have, the bigger problem we have is midfield cover for our defense, imo

The secret of staying at the top is recognising as a club when to replace personnel that have been top notch, but are beginning to show signs that they are not what they used to be. Paisley had it and so did Ferguson. Ferguson lost it for whatever reason and that's one of the reasons the rag are not what they used to be.

I agree,we have several players that fit that description and, subsequently,i think some tough, unpopular, decisions will be made post season.

Spot on. Nothing lasts forever.

I thought id just explained.

my point is, i still think he`s better than sagna especially as an attacking option, and clichy and kolarov are worse on the others side. hopefully after a bit of rest after a season of injuries he`ll come back fitter for next term.

having said that we need to get rid (imo) of one right and one left back and bring in or advance from within two younger players. it would give the younger players someone of vast experience to learn from.

Past it is a little harsh I'd guess we may have another season as I think Pep will fancy him more than Sagna.

My fav player over all others, Zaba is what we'd be like out there, blood sweat and tears came as a play anywhere almost journeyman and leaves as arguably our best ever right back.

The truth is,we need a full back overhaul.....its probably long overdue and i'm not convinced the answers lie within our academy, yet.

Completely agree. Zaba will go down as the best RB in the club's history, but now is the time to move him on. Love the man.

Zabaleta and Kompany should both be due a testimonial in two years. I would like them both to have one. I can't remember the last City player to have one, but these two would definitely deserve the honour.

Isn't sagna 34 next year and out of contract aswell it may make sense to keep zaba and promote one of youth players?
With the exception of Denayer being convered to RB,Ive already stated I don't believe we have anything in the EDS currently capable.

Despite Sagna's age,he looks better equipped physically to handle another couple of seasons than Zabba imo.

cheers Zaba, youve been an immense Blue, but i dont think youll be playing much next season, if at all.

I get you.....Clichy stays,Kolarov out for me, and id probably keep Sagna(even though heart says different)

i think it would be a close call between sagna and zaba with zabs attacking abilities and the fact i have man love for him and want him to stay here in some capacity after his playing days.

love the mans commitment to the cause, he could hopefully pass this on to the kids.

i dont think we`re too far apart 8-)

He's never been blessed with pace but as you get older the little you have is always the first to go. I tend to agree with the poster who said perhaps his performances are purely down to ring rust due to a lack of playing time this season, who knows.

Whatever happens he's been a model pro who's taken Manchester to his heart and it's football club too and he'll rightly go down as a City legend.
