You don't know who these respondents were or even who commissioned the poll. If Ipsos MORI went into the Bishop Blaize before a derby and did a poll about whether Ciry were a bigger club than the rags there wouldn't be any argument about what their opinion would be. Doesn't make it a fact though.

???? why are the "outs" trying to argue this.....the reports are "black and white"...Economists were asked a question and the economists who replied "overwhelming" were against leaving.... can try and find reasons to argue against these statistics ....there is no argument! The "outs" are trashing the report because it doesnt fit with their opinions....

I knew corbyn would be at fault. I'm surprised the BBC and govt have not pointed out that thus is all his doing.
I'm actually surprised he's had time to ruin the referendum inbetween befriending terrorists, causing the war in Syria by voting against it, and spying for Russia. If he wasn't so busy promoting anti Semitism I'm sure he'd be all over it
Probably a London rag or a Tarquin too, the cnut.

The main argument of the remain campaign has seemed to focus on all these 'rights' we will lose if we leave. Are we unable to govern ourselves to protect these rights ?

Because it is portraying a false narrative that "nine out of ten" economists believe Britain leaving will harm the economy, and that simply is not the case. Do they say "nine out of ten" economists of the 600 or so that actually even responded out of the 3,800 that were asked from the Royal Economic Society, argue against leaving the EU?

No, the portrayal is that "Overwhelmingly, economists across the country are united in their belief that leaving is a bad idea." This is a false portrayal of the survey conducted and even IPSOS Mori, the ones who actually carried out the survey, have said the same.

In's have used this 'stat' as proof that economists are against Brexit. 'Outs' are saying that this has to stop because it is incredibly misleading to those still undecided.

They tend to overlook the fact we had these rights before Britain even joined the EU in the first place.

At the bottom of the article it states

"Reported figures are based on unweighted data and so should only be taken as representative of those who responded."

That means that you cannot use it to say what economists feel as a whole, only the individuals who responded.
83% of the economists could not be bothered to return their questionnaires. 83% of economists are lazy fuckers.

??? The report I linked stated it was based on a poll of 600 (639) economists that replied to the question.....and 88% (or nearly 9 out of 10) said they think leaving will be bad for the economy? What is there to question or argue about that???...If they had not stated what the statistics of the poll were based on, I could agree with the "outs" argument....but all the info we need is in the report.....again, there is just no argument to be had....If I turned this around and this report was about economists that were in favour of "leave"....I honestly couldnt argue with this report.....there is no hidden agenda, they were just stating facts on the replies the economists were given them!

Brexit supporters are more likely to not respond if they believe that the economy will be negatively affected by Brexit.
Remain supporters are more likely to not respond of they believe that the economy will be positively affected by Brexit.
Because in both cases the fate of the economy is at odds with their personal views.

The fact that very few predicted a positive change to the economy, together with the roughly 50-50 split in opinion polls on how people will vote, would suggest that many Brexit supporting economists know there will be a negative effect on the UK economy and therefore did not respond rather than face the anguish of the mental dichotomy.

Same as the economists that stated we had to join the Euro.

You got to be joking me!! 600 economists replied to a question and 88% of those (nearly 9 out of 10)said leaving was bad for the economy??? Its very clear what this report is saying..and what I'm saying....You really want to base an argument on those that didnt reply, couldnt reply, too lazy to reply? Using that same argument I could say that the other 2500+ economists could have also wanted to stay?....but I just want to keep it to the facts!! This is a fact based report on a poll of 600 economists that replied...nothing more and nothing less......people need to stop trying to fill in the gaps with your own opinions and just read the report......it clearly states what those statistics are based on....Who said this report was based on economists as a "whole"??? I even said this was based on a report of 600 economists?.....if you only have a foundation of 600 economists as they are the only ones that replied....its only their views that can count when building an intelligent, informed opinion.....

Imagine if Charles Darwin had said "Let's stay at home and study hamsters. It's much safer and I get to keep my pension".

Some people need to grow a pair.

Quite agree. If it was left to some we'd still be living caves rubbing sticks together. Let's see what's round the corner, it's a big world out there.

sorry....88% of 600 economists in one report and 9 out of 10 in the other agree it will weaken the economy and could link 100's of other websites that report the same findings....but I'm sure the outs will try and twist this....but I'm fine with that and come to accept it! Not saying I agree with everything they say but their is a overwhelming pattern against leaving...

Almost nine in 10 economists believe leaving the EU would damage the UK economy

And how many times since 2008 have the experts said ' interest rates will rise in the third quarter of this year ' . Oh that's right every year. Have they?
