Pep's First Training Session - Video

I found it hard to understand what was really going on, what with the reasonably close angle on Pep. Would love to see that same video from up high.

Same. Apparently it was about positional play
I took it to be about defenders getting into position quickly to receive short balls from the keeper before they get closed down, and playing out of a press. Those that say Hart cant play out need to see him in a team that makes it easier for him.

Oh my god! Not only is the geezer running on the pitch with the team, he's also knocking the ball around with them. Sounds a bit silly, but don't you think that is what this squad have been missing - somebody fairly young and physically fit, to interact with them? Sensing good times.

Far too soft, called Kolarov by his first name.

Loved how Pep shouted at someone like him who might not even be here next season. The subtext felt like 'It's basically make your mind up time. This is how I do things. Love it or shove it.'

An insight too into how intense Pep is and how much of the burden of coaching he takes upon himself. He ain't gonna trust you, until you earn his trust.

Yeah, I'm smitten.

I guess Pep doesn't want other teams seeing what we are working on?

Was it the gk coach who kept chatting with Pep? probably telling him players names haha.

An interesting session by the looks of it, straight into kicking a ball about. Most pre seasons are fitness based for the first sessions I thought, I guess Pep want's to get a few 'ground rules' in place.

Can only guess the Clichy and Horsfield impressed at the end.
I wish I could be at training for one day just to see it all in person. Must be incredible to be coached by Pep.

If you're half-arsed, you won't like Pep. Thankfully that means no more half-arsed performances and our team playing with 100% passion!

Oh of course, I wouldn't expect the video showing the whole pitch to be made public!

I consider myself reasonably knowledgable about football and tactics etc, but I'd just love to see it in a context that let me see everything that was going on

That was the most interesting training session I've ever watched from City TV (if not most interesting full stop), especially as it was the first day of training these players have had under Pep. I believe the first day was about first giving the players a taste of what's to come but also I think he will have been watching closely how they all responded during it and after it... In other words watching who put maximum effort in and took on board what he was saying rather than stand asking "Why are we doing this?" and who came off that field smiling at the end of the session. A lot of managers say they don't care about reputations and talk about giving lesser known players a chance over big name players but I get the sense if he saw a player fits the role he needs and was taking on-board what he wanted from him better then Pep would actually have the balls to go with that option, he really means business.

Players will have either gone home today buzzing at how engaging it was and hearing his input, eager to learn what's next or they would be slightly worried about the upcoming pre-season and whether they'll be able to keep up with everybody.
This is what I meant yesterday when I said players need a certain mentality to be accepted in a Pep squad, interesting to see who survives?

Fuck me this has me buzzing for the season to start I don't expect us to be firing on all cylinders first game but I hope we click by derby day and screw them rag bastards over

I never thought I would be so happy to watch a training session video ffs but I am and I was. Loved it.

Get the feeling he is just easing them in the water....a lot of these lads are in for a rude awakening after the 3 year jolly they've just had. Be very interesting to see who makes it and who doesnt, who takes to his methods and who doesnt.

Yaya did more running in those clips than he normally does in a full game, let's hope he enjoyed it and didn't think it's not for me.
