Succinct, if blind.

As I've stated, I wouldn't trade him for any other keeper in the world, but I think he can improve. As a keeper, at 29 he is only just coming into his prime, even though it seems like he has been around forever.

I LIKE him, but that doesn't mean I can't think he needs to improve, does it?

I think he paints the target on himself by being vocal and confident. Some people don't like that. I have never heard DeGea talk, nor Courtois, and only rarely heard Cech or Buffon. Maybe there is something to be said for that? Just a thought.
He talks because he is a leader,he is honest and never hides, the only one from the whole england team to say sorry for his own form at the euro's,he is put up to speak after our games because of the above and holding it against him for being confident lol,the other keepers don't speak because english is not their first language

Indeed. However, when that confidence is being called into question as OVER confidence, not being backed up by performances, and he is becoming a caricature for his pre-game antics/rituals, then it is time to stop making yourself the story and going back to the basics of letting your game speak for itself.

In short, it is time to change Joe's narrative....and he is the best person to do that for himself. There is a saying: Just because you can, doesn't mean you should. I would take heed of that when it comes to media for a season or so.

Again, I like him, his ability (albeit it could and should improve) and his positive attitude. I just don't want to see him being made a mockery of by the vicious and vindictive media in Britain. He is, and always has been, one of their favorite City targets, with City being the favored overall target since 2008's injection of "dirty money!"

I wouldn't spend the money for a top, top replacement, but he does need to be challenged by someone who could replace him in a pinch.

I think he occasionally looks flaky on crosses because he is one of the few that actually comes for them. He's bound to miss more as a result.

I think he does interviews because he's one of the only English players at City, and the media are more interested in him than e.g. De Gea speaking with an interpreter.

Buffon is the one to aspire to, but even he has his moments. I doubt any PL keeper will reach his level.

Haven't seen anybody blaming Lloris for Portugal's goal, but you can bet if that had been Joe beaten by a low shot from twenty yards it would have been all about his slow reactions, not moving his feet, lack of concentration....

Exactly! And then something like "he'll never be world class like Lloris.."

Like I said earlier, Hart's haters will blame him for all manner of goals that in a million years they wouldn't hold any other keeper accountable. Clowns.

"Harts haters" lol. Get a fucking grip of yourself. Some people think he can and should improve and some people think he's the bestest ever who's doing just fine as he is.
I guess we'll find out soon enough what the only person who counts thinks.

I've been pilloried here before for speaking about Hart. Think he is a good shot-stopping keeper who struggles with crosses, but now he is getting walloped for his shot stopping, too!

Think it is time for him to get his head down, work on his game (ALL OF IT, because his kicking is absolute shite!) and keep his trap shut.

Someone brought up his kicking at a SC branch meeting and the guest speaker agreed but said watch him before the match as he warms up with the goalie coach. We did and his kicking is almost perfect then. Why?

No pressure on him and player he's kicking to.

A bit like that Mourinho quote when talking about rooneys 50 yard passes.

People need to stop making excuses for Hart.
Yes, he wasn't alone, but he had a poor tournament, and there were too many occasions last season when defensive confusion always seemed to result in the other player shouldering most of the blame (Hart-Fernando v PSG, Hart-Clichy v Arsenal, Hart-Demichelis v United)

Hopefully, his speed of distribution will improve, and also his physical assertiveness when defending set pieces.

Yes, but in all those instances the other player was pretty much 100% to blame. In my view.

Don't want to restart this argument again but to suggest that Hart was blameless in all those incidents is inaccurate. That said some of the stick the guy is getting both here and in the wider media is uncalled for. He will be given a fair chance to impress by Pep and if he shows he is up to it he will still be here when Pep heads off in a few years time.

i saw Neuer playing the ball centrally on numerous occasions to Kroos with an opposition player in close proximity and I though to myself....you shouldn't be doing that Manuel, Bluemoon told me so

Yeah, I'm not sure how Clichy trying to put it out for a corner and grazing his own goalpost whilst doing so could be considered Hart's fault!

As a former and now occasional 'keeper, I don't think there's too much wrong and I still believe he is one of the best in the game.
You sometimes have wobbles or a funny moment where you get a little bit of luck and it goes the other side of the post or bobbles back up into your hands - but that's part and parcel of the game. Yes, it's generally accepted that 'keepers cannot make mistakes like outfield players can, but the little heart-in-mouth moments that turn out fine should be forgiven as just that and not a reason to jump on someone's back. If you look dodgy but never concede, you've got to be better than someone who looks good but concedes regularly.
Sometimes the mistakes come in little bunches, but Joe has always got his head down and turned it around.
He is pumped up and comes across as slightly bonkers, but none of that is because he thinks he's Mr Big - it's because he wants to play well. A Goalkeeper's priorities are quite different from the rest of the team and every goal you concede hurts you, even if 5 'keepers in the same goal couldn't have kept it out. Whilst an outfield player can walk off and think that it wasn't their fault, a 'keeper will always feel responsible, even if his defense shafted him and it went in off the 6th rebound after he'd made 5 worldies.
I've also seen people criticising him when he owns up to his mistakes, offering the advice not to make the mistake in the first place - but it shows that he doesn't hide.
He went up to the England fans, most of whom had been calling every player on the pitch a c**t all game, and held his hands up in apology, and I think that takes a lot of guts and shows how responsible he feels. To be honest, he could (and maybe should) have been made England captain instead of Rooney, and that might have produced totally different performances out of him and many other players.

Think personally he rarely gets caught out on the near post as some people say. He gets caught out low to his left - caused by being 6 foot 5 and - more importantly right footed which means he is stronger as most keepers are on his stronger foot side (perhaps pushes off too much from his right foot this sometimes happens - would love to know if anyone checks his boots for wear and tear underneath - if his balance is perfect it should be same wear/tear as any podiatrist would say. Saying that, no one is perfect and if anyone thinks he is the reason we have gone downhill they are surely deluded - how many European games has he stopped us getting humiliated for example? Despite his infrequent errors he would still always be one of the first names on my team sheet (very first if it was in position order)

Sorry, I nearly pissed myself laughing reading that bit.

This thread summed up in a few words :

Do we need some foreigner who has no commitment or emotional tie to City coming in to the team - No
Do we need loyalty, determination, talent in our team - Yes
Lets get rid of Hart!

Seriously some City fans have their heads up their arses when it comes to saying fuck off to loyal City players.

It's obvious Pep wants players with passion and belief and quality. Hart has them (Unless you read the Utd dominated press).

He is too confident and vocal for one poster lol
