Someone brought up his kicking at a SC branch meeting and the guest speaker agreed but said watch him before the match as he warms up with the goalie coach. We did and his kicking is almost perfect then. Why?
No pressure, relaxed, etc...but he seems to think he is a better "player" than he is, because he has almost been caught out more times than I care to remember. I don't think anyone feels comfortable when the ball goes back to him and a speedy forward is closing in on him.

Also, we don't have a good outlet for kicks (Sagna and Yaya??), so it tends to come straight back when he does kick it.

He is too confident and vocal for one poster lol

And, I'm not the only one who has picked up on his willingness to put himself and his mouth out there.

I appreciate his honesty en he does speak, but when you are thrust into the spotlight and being made the country's/team's goat for supposed mistakes, it only makes common sense to reel it in a bit, not double down. In the forum of public opinion, where it only takes one news story and the Internet repeats it ad nauseum, discretion is the better part of valor.

I hope he has another 5 years at City as one of the best shot stoppers in the world. Does that mean I have to think he is perfect?

No-one thinks he is perfect,he is human after all,he would get bad press for refusing pep and saying i'm not speaking to anyone again, the media would have a field day with that,he is confident and not cocky

Haven't argued he isn't. Maybe your love for Joe is clouding your ability to see that I'm a fan...just a fan who thinks he would be better served by taking a small step back from the limelight and let his WORK do the talking for him. If you can find where I have called him cocky, let me know and I will apologize, because I misspoke.

Cocky is my word not yours,he is not keeping quiet anytime soon so we can stop going round in circles,i don't love him i just get annoyed with people picking at him when he has the same faults as every other keeper but is a darn sight better than most of them and he bleeds blue

Why would we want to replace him with a 33yo ?

I could half understand getting the other Barca keeper at 24yo and letting them do battle for the number one shirt but a player at 33yo coming to England for the first time, no ta.

Who is to say what the foreign league keepers will be like when they get a version of Craig Bellamy running in at them, it just doesn't happen in Italy, Spain etc we might jus tsee these keepers with supposedly good footwork are left wanting as they get harried.

I can see where we got sideways. I don't think the things you seem to think I do! I agree with everything you said...he IS better than almost ALL the other keepers IN THE WORLD! My problem is that he doesn't have "the same faults" as some of those other top keepers and I want him to improve and be the absolute best he can be, both for his own reputation and, greedily, as a City supporter myself! At the moment, he is not soaring with the Eagles...IN THE EYES OF MANY, MANY PEOPLE. I think they are wrong and merely suggested a lower profile from him might help him allay some of that bad press and allow him to keep his head down and concentrate on making the next step up, which from him is minimal, but important.

I guess we won't know until either Hart goes there, or a top Euro keeper comes here...neither of which I want, btw.

However, while he is here, in this league, at this club, I think his footwork looks suspect....and I'm not alone.

It worries me when people say that Pep likes a goalie to distribute the ball like Neuer as Joe like to think he is a ball playing midfield in a goalies body.

But there are several positions that need strengthening before first team goalkeeper. Especially in the defence and midfield that are supposed to be first line protection for the City goal and goalie

Preach on, brother!

Your first sentence echoes my concerns, while your second echoes my hope for the team.

Punches when he should catch (PSG game leading to the penalty a good example).
Distribution poor.
Vulnerable on his left hand side to long range "daisy cutter" shots ( Geordies and Hammers at home last season and Euro 2016).
Not a very agile keeper ( although good on one on ones).

Definitely a position that needs strengthening for next season.

Agree.
