Who do you think we should be going for?

Look I understand that it's hard to bring in world class players.... but I would like to see someone like Kroos.

I totally respect that players are not always available but what I'm trying to say is we are still well behind Madrid and Barca IMHO.

I do like the idea of buying younger players with potential... but that doesn't mean they will automatically take us to that next level.

Anyways I would love to see Sane come here and do well. Hopefully Ric is right and things are going our way regarding this deal.

I wouldn't be delighted with the amount of raw but hugely talented players it looks like we'll be signing if we didn't have THE best man in the business to guarantee they know what they are doing and hit the ground running

I think Gundogan is grossly underrated on bluemoon. Well, that's good. He'll be a pleasant surprise for most.

Gundogan is better than Kroos in my opinion. So if you think Kroos is World Class, guess what we already signed a better midfielder.

I don't think we'll get another midfielder, it's going to be hard enough fitting the ones we already have. We now have 4 possession proficient midfielders: Silva, Yaya, Nasri and Gundogan. 2 all action midfielders in Dihno and DeBryune, a specialist in Fernando and Delph. There really isn't a spot for another CM yet unless we move a couple of people out.

PS: Sane is a must :)

i do agree mate that i dont THINK we will pursue another CM,
However KDB is not and never had been an all action midfielder. He has found himself on the edge and at some points totally out of games when hes not in the 10 role. He is utterly fantastic and efficient in that role, but he is as far away from fernandinho as anyone in the squad when it comes to all action. I dont think i've ever seen him track a man back more than 5 yards, let alone make a challenge on the floor or in the air. Not his job though and Im not criticising because I wouldnt expect him to! I would love thiago as the extra midfield runner and ball carrier but its clear there isnt a sniff of that happening unfortunately

Think our business this window has been excellent, gundogan will sort the midfield and in peps system I would be more then happy with a midfield of yaya, fernandinho and gundogan think playing in a stable three man mid will allow delph and fernando to perform at the level expected of them. On the wings we have nolito who looks to be an excellent squad player who will offer natural width, movement and goals which for 13.8 mil will be the bargain of the summer and zinchenko who is a signing for the future but at 1.5mil for an international player who is very highly rated in eastern Europe is another bargain. Sane is a great player and if we get him our quality on the wings will be the envy of most of Europe for the considerable future sterling at 21, sane at 20 and zinchenko at 19 great time to be a blue. We have targeted players to suit the system and players for the future not signed big names for big fees for the sake of a marquee signing.

So you thought we were gonna magically get to the level of Barca or Real in one summer? The signings we have made so far and the ones hopefully to come in the next few weeks have strengthened our team and more importantly they suit Pep's style of play. This isn't FM you can't just buy every world class player in one go.

Even if you would get all the world class players - you do not build a team and a system in one summer even with very good individuals. It takes some years of continous build up.

Building by purchasing great young players who can grow together I'm excited about Gundogan and Sane great buys :)

i wont lie to you, i havent seen a hell of a lot of Sane, only the odd match and the clips on you tube. but he seems quick, and direct and likes to take people on. and i believe we have been watching him for quite a few months now so if we get him then im sure Pep and the club and us fans will be pleased ;-)

Some seem to be forgetting how beneficial the signings of Sane (20), Stones (22) and Gundogan (25) are to our future. If these players develop to their full potential, under a manager who's the best in the business at bringing out the best in players, then the spine of our team will be set for years - not forgetting Kelechi (19), Sterling (21) and De Bruyne (25).

Seeing as how a lot of our team are over 30, particularly our key players like Kompany, Silva, Yaya and Fernandinho, I think it's brilliant planning by the board and manager and should stand us in good stead for the years ahead.

I wasnt having a go at all, im just genuinely interested to see who people think we should be in for. Kroos for me is a cracking player but i think unless Real sign Pogba which looks very unlikely then thats not happening. Looks like Bonucci will stay at Juve, Leporte stayed at athletico etc so i think we need to be realistic.

Anyway, on topic lets hope this deal gets wrapped up over the next week, i think Sane could be a fantastic signing for us. Pace, power and goals, something we have missed over the past few seasons.

Exactly I don't mind big money being spent on players of this ilk , we can then just sign one or two out of the top drawer if and when they become available each year .
The spine and basis of the team will be set

Good post mate. Ive been saying this for a while. I don't care what money is spent on building a squad takes. I just want my club to build and be succesful if that cost money that they can afford then so be it.

While introducing the cream from our academy.

Cheers. The spine of the team, for one reason or another, has been allowed to grow old together over time and slowly but surely the board is addressing this and as FantasyIreland said above, the academy will surely start producing first-team ready players in the next few years. It's not all panic stations ;)
