Truck Runs into Crowd in Nice

As I said above, no cause justifies this type of atrocity. Nevertheless, like it or not, it's not purely a security response that's needed. We also need to look at underlying contributory factors in the cool light of day. It's only a week since Chilcott. What have we really learned?

(I don't have the answers but knee jerk restrictions on freedoms won't be a magic cure.)

You can't let fear lead to handing over our civil liberties though, not now, not ever.
 
I was only thinking to myself on Sunday how great it was that the Euros had passed without any major security incidents.

The people behind these atrocities do not believe in liberty or freedom of speech. To further deprive ourselves of our own liberties in response these attacks is exactly what they want.

Not only that, but ISIS are moving away from old style "cells" and instead instructing people to partake in acts as lone wolves. Extra surveillance wouldn't be the best approach there.

As unexciting as it sounds, spending whatever it takes to tackle high levels of poverty and youth unemployment would most likely make people safer than further surveillance. France hasn't done enough to integrate or welcome people who have found themselves there as part of France's colonial past. It's very different to here

We live in one crazy fucked up world.
I have real trouble trying to explain to my young daughters why these things happen!!

I class myself as a rational person, but each time one of these disgusting acts of terror occurs, it gives me what I would describe as irrational thoughts as to how we should deal with the people and the groups involved.
 
shocking or more to the point it is not shocking anymore, just like the beheadings at first i was numb that another human could carry out such an act then at some point your skin thickens and its just another murder,,this is the prime reason this country has voted to pull out of the EU 'security issues and not economic' lets just hope its not to late for the UK to rid our country of these scum
 
Awful news. I wouldn't have had Nice down as an obvious target - it doesn't strike me as a hotbed like Marseilles or certain parts of Paris but I suppose it only takes one person to get roped into this twisted ideology and they can cause all sorts of mayhem. A lot of terrorist attacks require months of planning but this method doesn't and is simple to implement.

Still worth noting a fraction of the deaths from this terrorism pretty much caused by our previous direct action are actually on Western nations. The poor fuckers in Iraq have carnage far worse than this pretty much every day

No idea what the answer is. Executing every Muslim in the UK and nuking the Middle East then taking all the oil for ourselves will work, but I think that might be more direct action than even some on here would advocate, if Trump gets in maybe we will find out if it works.
 
I watched that Ross Kemp thing last night and it struck me how the Kurds that are fighting ISIS on a daily basis said that this war is pushing them away from Islam as they don't want to have any link or association to (and I quote) "these murdering scum". There was a Kurdish woman who had escaped from them but while held captive had her baby son and her daughter poisoned and they died in front of her. This has got fuck all to do with religon, this is genocide on a worldwide scale. I don't know what the answer is but its got to be stopped somehow
 
Looked on in the net this morning and it doesn't even come as a surprise anymore when you see these incidents being reported. That alone shows you how bad it's getting. There's something happening around the world nearly every other day. Thank fuck for the English Channel, we'd be littered with fanatics.
