But you are wrong. We dont over pay as such. We pay the rate 12 months ahead of inflation.

We did it with Raheem, bought him a year before the league saw the silly money come in. had we left it until this year, any team could pay 44 mil for him.

No team would pay 44 million for Sterling this year or 42 million for Mangala the year before. Still Im happy he is here but that does not mean, not aimed at you, its not right transfer fees and negotiations cannot be discussed.

There is still value in the market to be had I just think that City sometimes set their sights on a player and seem prepared to pay substantial sums regardless and that has set a precedent for future transfers even though we rarely get the signings in early. It makes you question the point of the negotiations if clubs know we will pay anyway.

I'd rather we just never made the 'take it or leave it' offer to Liverpool last summer if we didn't have the bottle to actually walk away when they rejected it.

It's precedents like that which come back to haunt you. Exactly what we're going through with Stones now as well apparently.

You've got to show you're prepared to walk away when selling clubs take the piss otherwise you'll get the piss taken out of you every time you buy.

Pogba?

Some great pace shown from City's defenders there when you consider how quick he is.

Wonder how Demichelis would have got on.
Saw some lose touches there that carried on into hisgame last season. Has to get better with that. Especially now that he is likely to start seeing more park the bus defenses.

Let's get this all into perspective. If he has signed a five year contract and we are paying £35M or £40M then that obviously equates to £7M or £8M per annum. In the current climate and based on the tremendous potential that this kid has it really does seem a reasonably good deal.
Watched him several times last season and thought he was one to watch for the future. So glad he's come to us and can't wait to see him in action. Remember that he is a work in progress and we may not see the best of him this season. Exciting times!

Are people really moaning about the size of the fee? I would think in the current market 37m represents excellent business from our point of view for a player with his potential and reputation across Europe.

Exactly, how much did Watford want for Troy Deeley?

we have signed one of the hottest prospects in Germany keeping him away from Bayern.

Great work by the club, we should all be excited by his potential. Pep sang his praises last year- let's see where he can take us.

Never understood why people complain about transfer fees; not my dosh so I couldn't care less as long as we get our man! £37M for a German international isn't that bad anyway in the current market anyway

I don't know why everyone is so quick to believe the £37 mil figure.. It's quoted by Schalke.. Bound to be inflated.. Including bonuses, agent fees etc.. Selling clubs do that to show that they got the better deal
