Sorry not thinking straight for some reason got it in my head level one base wouldn't expand, doh.
In my defence haven't been in the south stand since its been done, must walk round next home game.

All that space for 93:20 & Legends Lounge is on level 1 as well just sat there doing nothing but because the space isn't used for anything people forget it's there.

There is space over 3 levels. This space can be walled off to create a 3 story building within the stand itself.

There is a lot of 'dead' space on level one of the new South Stand. Basically from the back wall of the original stand to the back wall of the new stand. They've used it to create a huge square to open up the concourse but no one ever uses it.

The store could be on level 1 & 2 including taking up room where the 93:20 bar would be and there could be a museum overlooking the pitch where the Legends Lounge is.

Think we have several ticket offices at the moment. The main one on the exterior of the North Stand, one in the 2nd floor of the club shop and a smaller match day one on the corner of the new South Stand. Will be interesting to see where the main ticket office ends up during re-development.
I thought the original plans were to incorporate the store within the stands, not sure where I've got that from. But I'm sure @worsleyweb said recently there are plans now for a new store to be built behind Summerbees' bar.

Got it in my head that the base would have stayed the same and the third tier would of over hung somehow.lol
Having said that have sat in level 1 north stand off and on for about 8 years and its only about 18 months ago I realised I was sat underground!!
Wonder if there's any other numb nuts that dont realise ?

Yeah he did.

Just guessing what they could do with all the space in the North Stand if it's a copy of the new South.

It could be that the new shop they build is only temporary until the new stand is built or it could be permanent because the new stand differs from the South.

I'm hoping for the expanded 2nd tier option but just feel it would be too good to be true.

This shows where the ground level is and the gap between the back of existing level 2, and the back with a third tier added. It also shows how the third tier could join the second to make one big second tier.

i was trying to work the projection line from level 3 all the way down to the pitch 'one complete tier' it finishes just behind the nets but it would then look odd where it joins the East and Colin Bell and that would be quite a steep incline from front to back although i think Dortmund's is steeper so not imposible

Worsleyweb seems to think a two tier version is likely in the build, he maybe right and it does look great, however, to do this would mean the current second tier having to be closed during the build, the contact I have said the stand would be different from the South Stand but he only mentioned it would be less cooperate based. It is possible that the club may have decided to change the design if so then a new planning application would need to applied for so may be worth keeping an eye on MCC Planning Dept over the next few months. Just hope the club makes an announcement soon.

I'm no architect or engineer, but to my eye I don't see why. The old roof would cover the second tier as the new level is built behind as it was for the south stand. Except where when the old roof for the south was removed the third tier came over the top of the second. To make it a single tier it would be built behind and when the old roof I removed just joined to the second tier to make a single tier.
Just to be clear though I have no idea what I'm talking about.

I'm hoping we get something like this, or the second tier idea. a stand where all the noise is and a stand with its own unique identity. if we do the same as the south stand extension i think it would be a really chance missed to have our own end for once.i keep seeing the idea of joining all the top tiers together and i just think we will end up with arsenals ground. aha

If your implying I'm thick ? I have to agree with you I am ! Lol
Honestly didn't realise I was underground

It was more to show the space created between the new exterior and the current exterior at the back of the second tier where a store etc could go.
But if the cap fits :)

Like you no idea but wouldn't the rake of the current level two be quite shallow and the extension would have to be raked very steep to get the desired number of seats in.
You would think level 2 would have to close to get a steep enough rake ?

yes it would be fantastic, it's not impossible to do it, if you look at the Dortmund picture see the meccano type thing along the top maybe someting like that would help keep the roof up if that's where the problems are with a complete end

I'm not either, if it could be done it would look the dogs, but it would need new planning permission so will keep my eyes on MCC Planning over the next few months. If the build is scheduled to begin in the new year as I understand then plans would need to go in sooner rather than later.

If the two tier design could be done it may mean loosing more or all the seats in level 2 as it's built or is this not the case ? Perhaps somebody with engineering or architecture background could advise. My money is till on three tiers with current South Stand cooperate spaces being used for something like a new ticket office / club shop.

People talking about the 'rake' of the stand having to be the same, I don't understand why. It's not he same at the front of the stands as the rest, so why can't they just build it how they like, to fit the space, if necessary going up in a curve or in sections rather than straight ?

And surely they can build it from the back, same as the South stand, then join it up close season, no matter if it's one tier two tiers or 3 tiers ? I don't see how that makes any difference during the season either.

If it had to be a two tier stand, I would try to make one of the tiers small & the other huge. However that fit in the space best. So it was as close as possible to being a one tier stand. Even if it meant not maximising the possible capacity. The 3 tier design fucks up the atmosphere of the ground imo.

The original consolation for the new stands was July 2013.

South Stand expansion was officially announced early October 2013.

Further drawings were released early November 2013.

If they follow the same trend then we may only be a month away from confirmation.
