Ticket queues in Glasgow

I assumed that reason was security? So they know who's going in without a explosive device?

That argument doesn't stack up though. At every game, 95% of those attending are home fans who don't have to obtain their ticket this way. A terrorist would just go in the home sections

Yeah kinda thought that but was thinking more the mass coverage champs league would bring?

If the club is acknowledging there is a problem with points whores, why don't they implement this system for the 19 domestic away games too? I don't like it and it seems pointless doing it for a maximum of 6 away games in Europe. People only get the same number of points for attending European away games as they do in the PL, so i'm not sure why the process is different.

I personally think the club needs to reconsider the loyalty points system, or at least allocate a portion of the away tickets to a ballot.

I don't know whether you're a liar or not because you're a stranger on a forum. But having spent too much time on here I'm not going to believe that quote without hearing the other side of the story and the context. And it doesn't change the point anyway: it's a straw man argument, it isn't relevant, it's a "Do Not Pass Go" free ticket to the moral high ground, which everyone uses in a "won't somebody think of the children" manner when they feel wronged.

It's nothing personal mate, it's just my experience of the internet and the context in which quotes are used. And just to be clear, I'm outraged at this "pick up "system.
No problem Dave maybe we just caught her at the wrong time either way it's a poor attitude for her to have. She also said Celtic had been down watching how it worked and said no way would they be implementing it. I honestly can't believe people think that giving hours of their free time up for this isn't an issue.

I do not see much downside from this process - I really welcome it.

And the blame for whatever downside there is rests squarely with the points whores. The club are to fully applauded IMO - and I think that they ought to consider how something similar can be introduced for PL away games.

Obviously the exact same process is not practical, but the points whores issue needs addressing for domestic games as well

Well it seems other English sides are also doing it, suggesting it might be some new anti football supporter policy.

It isn't just football. A lot of concert venues are now doing it in an attempt to stop touts. There was a radio/news item on it recently as one concert was delayed due to fans having to show their ID as they entered and it caused huge queues. As someone said on the radio what if you bought a ticket as a present, you pay or your card but your friend has the ticket and therefore a different name.

The clear problem yesterday was not enough staff. I know they struggle to find venues that will allow City to operate out of so perhaps that dictates how many staff can be used.

If it's to stop the point whores, how about introducing a spot check system at away grounds and if you get caught you're seasoncard is invalidated for the next home and away game. Just a thought, no doubt there'll be a hundred reasons why this wouldn't be the perfect solution!!

To counter your findings the guy in front asked to see the person charge. Straight away she said she would answer and questions or any other concerns he might have. We left as she, although mad busy, listened to his beef. Which by the way held the queue up even further. She will have known that but still stopped and listened to him.

Could have fit 50 staff in there.

No downside?

  • The people stood for two hours queuing in the rain could see one
  • The people missing their valuable free time in a new city could see one
  • The people who got stuck in traffic trying to get to the city centre collection point and missed getting their ticket could see one
  • The people who fell ill on the day of the game or couldn't travel up for whatever reason could see one
  • The people who had to pay £12 to park for a couple of hours could see one
  • The city staff facing angry customers could see one
  • And those facing extra costs to pick up tickets at away games can see one

But no, you're right, let's lick the club's ring piece whilst our freedoms are further eroded by the sops like you.

It has nothing to do with points whores, only an idiot believes that self perpetuating guff.

It's quite amazing really. Even if you think that what's happening is ok, to not think there are problems faced by many supporters each and every time, or worse, acknowledge the problems but not give a fuck anyway says a lot about a person.
You keep fighting the good fight Squirty.

100 % correct

Just can't see how this is going to work for the gladbach game ? As already mentioned most fans will be staying elsewhere and the cost of your ticket includes travel from a certain distance. We are staying in dusseldorf so won't be to happy paying for a train when it's already included.

Think they'd have struggled to get another couple of employees in here.

Until somebody convinces me otherwise, I'm certain that this is a UEFA reaction to English misdemeanours on previous trips.
Yesterday, I was asked three times to show my wristband, by stewards and police outside the ground. They wouldn't have the faintest interest in "points whores" etc
It's all the thin end of the wedge IMO. Give it a few years and it'll be all away fans doing this for all UEFA matches because UEFA show time and again that they don't give the first fuck about match attending supporters, it's all about the people at home who pay the TV subscriptions and can watch the adverts at half time. And people like Chisholm who love to have this kind of control over people will try to introduce it for some domestic aways at some point, what with it all going so swimmingly so far. Stupidly I thought we were going in the other direction with the way football fans were perceived and treated, obviously not.

It just makes me think that they either don't go or they got their ticket off Mr Corporate

Bill and I've have discussed this loads of times since we trekked across a snowy Kiev when it was first introduced.
Not one person I spoke to in the queue yesterday was happy, despite what some have posted on here. Fair enough I didn't speak to everyone but there were loads of longstanding blues I see at most euro aways and they were not happy. The mood in the doorway with the two officials felt very ugly.

As to points whores, if there's so many of the fuckers how come I still see the same old faces I saw before this was introduced?

My train from Dortmund to Monchengladbach was €27 last year, but some people think it's a price worth paying? #deludedfuckers

It's about time match day fans stood up to be counted and started making noise about these issues. Unfortunately we are all to blame for not voting with our feet. Things would change pretty damn quickly if the stadiums were half empty.

I find the silence behind their Nanny State banning of alcohol in stadiums a sad indictment on the stepford wives acceptance that we all suffer from when it comes to being treated like kids or thugs.

It's only a minor thing but I'd hope that some noise in The MEN might at least result in some kind of explaination from MCFC of this new system. 1894 group would good people to get involved.

Sad reading that - mainly because it's pretty true.
