Mr Corporate has a box at City, when the draw is made he is asked would he like tickets for any of the games. "Aye" he says, "I'll take five for the Celtic game at Parkhead.
"You do realise we will need their names and you will have to collect the tickets in Glasgow and show ID?"
"Fuck off Wilson, I'm not doing that, do you really think my clients are going to do that? Any way I'm not sure who will be going yet as plans may change on the day and they might not go so someone else may go.
"Sorry" says Wilson, "that's now club policy"
Mr Corporate gets angry and puffs out his chest " you do know how much business I bring you, I get at least five tickets for most game!, I'm not doing it, you'll have to give me the tickets and the wristbands before I go. If not I'm going to puncture you".
Wilson relents, gives Mr Corporate his five tickets, his five wristbands and he hands them out to his clients.

So much for making sure tickets go to the 'right' people. Next time you fall short of a ticket for a big game send your thanks to Mr Corporate and the basketball.

It was a true story written by me after conversing with Mr Corporate who had five tickets and four wristbands in his pudgy little mitts.
Queuing was not for him he said, it was really for the likes of me.

It wasn't told to me by a third party, I didn't hear it at a cocktail reception. I heard it with my own ears and saw them with my own eyes.
You see, some animals are more equal than others.

We got to the back of the queue a couple of minutes before 3 and emerged with tickets 80 minutes later.
The hall was sufficiently large for them to have three times as many people giving out tickets, but the incompetence of some at the club knows no bounds so too few staff were employed. It was a a farce, but at least it wasn't a surprise.
And why not stack tickets alphabetically instead of having to consult a laptop for every transaction?
Most in the queue think it's a good idea but badly implemented, and several said they wouldn't object to some sort of spot check at domestic away games to stop the point whores.


But the present format is just shitting on our own support. And don't get me started on 100 to 200 tickets being siphoned off from our reduced allocation at Spuds for another City in the City event where a grand total of zero points are required to obtain a ticket.

It is shit but as shown time and time again over the last few seasons, the club is becoming less and less concerned about supporters and more and more concerned about "clients"

I am pretty sure they are not hugely bothered about who goes to away games and if they could sell 2500 tickets to "City in the City" events, they would.

Well I for 1 don't think it's worth paying and seeing as I will be with my wife that's at least 54 euros I shouldn't have to pay !!

I'll give as much countenance to your story as you should to mine.

Not saying I don't believe you, but that there's another side to the story as I've stood in a queue in Madrid with my friend and his corporate guests queuing for tickets.

If you had any pals you could have got a Lander ticket for €41 for 5 people. Does you all day for the whole of the North Rhine Westphalia region.
 
Ultimately these decisions are made at boardroom level.
Unfortunately it's those at the bottom of the mcfc ladder who take all the stick.
They are the one's that were in the frontline in the Fruit Market, when it should have been the directors who implimented this.
It's not fair blaming the staff who are told to implement these procedures.
But I doubt very much that those in the boardroom are taking any notice. Just like they didn't do with the NS, block pricing, and continual season ticket price rises, until this season, when City fans finally had enough.
Our owners, and those they employ to run the club, now see us as customers, wristband numbers, and not City fans.

Same for us mate
There are three of us and we were going to stay in Düsseldorf as the Christmas market is supposed to be the best in Germany.
But when we factored in the €75 cost of travelling we thought we may as well stay in Moenchengladbach and collect our tickets early doors.

That's the reason we are staying in dusseldorf then if we don't get tickets we will have something to do before watching the game in a bar . Only got just under 11000 points so holding our breaths on the ticket front .

We seem to be at cross purposes my friend
I've not said that corporates don't queue for their tickets
I posted that Mr Corporate in my story, didn't queue for them on this particular trip as he told the basketball he wasn't going to and, furthermore, he was going to take who he liked and wouldn't be providing names of said clients until the day of the game

Living in Dusseldorf for work last year a Lander (NRW) ticket is the way forward if you go to the VRR shop in the station they are legally obliged to tell you the cheapest way from A-B . Regarding pubs to drink in there's loads in the Altstadt my old local was McLaughlins and will be in before/after the match as Terry is a top bloke.

Seconded, like Cleavers I can't comment on yesterday but having dealt with Lisa Eaton (and Danny Wilson) a few times over the years it sounds very definitely out of character. Plus I've seen her dealing with drunken fans and obstreperous fans in a cheerful and professional manner so it does sound as if the whole situation might have got to her.
 
Ok...

I was asked my name on the coach before it set off at Etihad. Not asked to show ID.
I was given the ticket (no name written on it) and given the wristband (was not asked to put it on)

Whilst in Glasgow not once was I asked to show the wristband (although I did put it on, my coat covered this band)
The stewards outside were randomly asking people to show their wristband but this was not consistent.

Inside the stadium, there was a big congestion issue at the 118?? Block, I forgot the block number but if you were there you'd know which one I meant... A large number of Blues all congregating on the steps and blocking the block entrance/exit even though there were many seats with nobody sat/stood in them.
Big issue as people couldn't get to their designated seats, the stewards/police didn't do shit even though fans were complaining about it.

The whole thing is shit and if this was any other event like music or something I'd fuck it off... I think the footballing business know this however which is why they can treat us like shit.

I was lucky as I didn't have to queue but being in Bar 91 (opposite the ticket collection point exit) I could see the hassle Blues were going through.

I can't be assed anymore, it's lost my interest. Spending all this cash to feel like a fucking sheep being herded around.

I'll keep my home seasoncard but aways are a no no.

We need collectively to vote with our feet.
This won't happen sadly as well there will be some out there who selfishly would take advantage of obtaining tickets.

Half empty stadiums, big revolt amongst people from all clubs, both us, united, Dippers, celtic, everyone sending a big FU to the business men would be superb and we'd get treated like humans rather than sheeple

Is the region that covers Dusseldorf to Moenchengladbach called Nordrhein-Westfalen (North Rhine-Westphalia)? Also would it cover Dortmund to Dusseldorf?
