I thought we played well today.The final ball was poor but it's still early days.
As long as we're there or thereabouts come new year we'll cruise the league.

but we have to take it that teams will come and park the bus and hit us on the break so the chances we get have to be taken and the only down side is the 2 pens but maybe it was not our day and still got something out of it

Good point,heads could have dropped after the second pen miss,shown a bit of character after dominating the game without scoring then sucker punched..

This happens a lot to the casual fan, thinking somehow the score reflects what actually happened during a match. Reducing Koeman to parking the bus was always going to boil down to City converting the number of chances they would create else points would be dropped. Credit to Lukaku, not many strikers from receiving the ball where he did would be able to convert so convincingly
 
another thing to note today was the grit/character the team showed today, pen miss-----went behind----- pen miss----- scored------- kept going. That is what champions are made of .........
 
I think it is games like today that Pep is buying someone like Gabriel Jesus....I know its not as simple as that but when teams play like everton did today you need that one on one ability and as talented as our players are in most areas of the game we do lack that ability.....we have it with sterling a bit and sane by he looks of it can do it but Ive already heard Pep say that GJ main talent is one vs one.

We are still a work in progress and we totally dominated them today. There was only one team that was even attempting to play football and that was us
 
Some people on here moan about fuck all, if those 2 pens would've gone in these moaners would've been saying absolutely brilliant result, world beaters, we played some great stuff but were unbelievably unlucky today. . End of

This is the game we deserve to win but no luck, nothing to worry we are still in the good form. We had Kun banned for 3 matches but still at the top of tables. Good good

We really need one more player upfront. Thank goodness Jesus is coming!
 
3 at the back worked really well imo. Have to see how we do against a pressing side but so many positives to take from today's setup.

Have to say, I really thought this game was in the bag the way we started in first 10-15 minutes, but that's football for you. 2 World Class players missing pens in a same game shouldn't be happening but we have to consider that Sergio's been low after all that crap he had with Argentina.

Onwards and Upwards now, S'oton, Brom, Boro, Palace and Burnley next. Should potentially be 14 points from 5 games.
 
We should've won, we didn't. Lukaku did his usual thing of doing fuck all but for one moment of brilliance and we suffered. The way we kept going even after conceding and then missing another penalty is a positive. It's better to play well and not win than play shite but it can be hard to take. Let's go and beat Barcelona now.

Everton are not a park the bus team we turn them into a parked bus team just because we are that good.

We played great just individuals let us down at important times, mainly the penalties.
 
I understand its important to look at the performance and I would agree 72% possession shows we were in control for most of the game but this is a results league and this game was there for the taking and we didnt take it. Long season but this is the type of game you look back at in May and say, if only we could have won that game......mistakes and missed chances, can be the difference between winning the prem or going home....we beat ourselves today "again" with missed chances and mistakes and we need to get it sorted.....I have no interest in seeing 70% possession games, if we cant get the 3 points and a win. You dont get style points in this league! Give me a poor performance and 3 points any day!;) Go blues!!

Its about different options for games like these...not simply about more attackers.

Jesus has something very few of our players do possess...the absolute ability to beat a man one on one..its his main/top ability....

Sterling is ok at it and sane looks like he might be as well but with GJ its what he does best and in tight spaces......
 
PEP: You can practice penalties but there is no pressure there - penalties in the crucial moment are penalties. #mcfc
