Reading the articles within @BlueAnorak 's Daily Kos posts and it seems the Ukrainians are really in danger of losing Pokrovsk
Even Zelenskyy has said the defenders are outnumbered 8-1

Behind the wheel was Lieutenant Colonel Veniamin Vladimirovich Mazherin, an officer of the Russian OMON involved in war crimes committed in the Kyiv region during Russia’s occupation in 2022.

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine had identified Mazherin in April 2022 among members of the so-called “Obereg” group — Russian security units responsible for mass atrocities and crimes against civilians in the Kyiv region. Now justice has been delivered to one of the perpetrators.

That’s the wrong question.

Barnes Wallace’s genius was probably of its time, and he might not be anywhere near as successful with it, if he had to apply his genius today. The skill set for success has unquestionably changed.

The correct question is: what would he think of what he’s ultimately helped forge?

to be fair to the BBC their Russia correspondent Steve Rosenberg does a YT run through on the morning papers daily which highlights the state of things in Russia right now plus he does other news report. I am amazed he hasn't been deported by now or had a terrible "accident"
