    The home brew thread

My local brew shop has started to stock Tiny Rebel 'CWTCH' brew kits. I started it a couple of weeks ago. Two types of hops in pellet form to drop into the brew smelled amazing. It has been in a pressure barrel for a few days now and an early taste sample was very pleasant. Patience. Another...

    Vulcan Bomber flypast this aft.

I saw a Vulcan display at Woodford many years ago. My lasting memories of that day were 1. The Noise and 2. the car alarms going off in the car park afterwards. I've seen the Who live at Bingley Hall and that was loud but the Vulcan was so much louder.

    Aldi or posher supermarkets

Aldi's wine selection is very good. They have medal winning wines at low low prices. My favourite is the Toro Loco Tempranillo. Less than £4. Lovely

    BBC2 10pm. Rik Mayall

Watched it on iplayer this morning. I found out that he was at Manchester Uni at the same time as me. Kevin Turvey, Dangerous brothers, Young Ones, Bottom, The New Statesman, Lord Flasheart.... All genius touched with a little madness maybe?

    Best fight scenes in movies....

The fight scene in Banshee. series 1 ep 4 takes a bit of beating. Truly brutal. Justice meted out. It's not technically a movie but a great fight scene.

    Guy Martin

I think you will find it is a new series. Last series he built a bike and broke the pedalling speed record. Last weeks episode was a 24 hour endurance challenge.

1 in 10 three-year olds have tooth decay

I am surprised the great Fluoride debate hasn't been mentioned in this debate. I live in an area where the water has been fluoridated for 30+ years. My children have no fillings and perfect teeth. The anti fluoride lobby is very strong and vocal, there are many papers stating that fluoride is...

    The home brew thread

I've started home brewing since xmas. Wifey gave me a brewing kit with a Cooper's ale (spot the username) First brew went quite well but was a bit "thin" I may have put too much water in ie: more than 40 pints, but it was quite drinkable. Had leakage problem with the barrel tap, so I had to...

    Bird Thread

I've just got back from holiday in Menorca. Plenty of variety there. Egyptian vultures are very impressive birds, soaring on huge wings. Hoopoes Red Kite White Egrets Bee eaters. Beautiful colourful birds. Fly like little spitfires. We were kept awake by a Scops owl one night. A very unusual...

    First Gig

The Who at Bingley Hall, Stafford. My ears were ringing for two days afterwards. 1972 /73 i think. I used to have a great poster from the gig but my mum chucked it away when I left home to go to uni.

    Interpol

I'll be there. I'm just wondering who is going to be playing bass. With Carlos not in the band anymore, the coolest bassist ever. Saw them last time at the Apollo, the replacement bassist was competent and played all the notes in the right order, but it just wasn't the same. Do you know what...

Rick. A few beers in the Tavaillon after a hard day skiing, then some great food. Cheese, cheese and more cheese. Never put a pound on over a weeks skiing, its like the best exercise you can get and the scenery is beautiful. I'll be there again 8th March.

    GMP Declare War on Cyclists

I cycle regularly at weekends and consider I have had a good ride if I get home in one piece without having a near death experience. One of the worst I have had was coming face to face with a hurtling milk lorry on a narrow country lane. Taking the hedge was always going to be the softer option...
