That is a good question actually.

Should I take it your answer is yes :)

I'm not sure genuinely. I believe in Aguero as a top player although I do think even with injuries at times his form as dipped up and down more than it should. But I do think he is a top top level player.

I also rate Cavani highly and think he is in the top bracket of striker. Much better than Negredo.

Stats are important but they arent everything. Ricky Lambert scored more last season in the prem than Rooney, Aguero etc. Should he do so again for the next 2 seasons, people wouldnt be suggesting we sign him. Actually, no they would!!

No, they wouldn't because in two years he'll be 33.

Now, take it easy on me but...

I can't believe City are linked with this guy for 24 million, Dzeko is by far the better player when compared to Negredo, and even he divides opinion right?
In the end when you look at it, it's a very disappointing transfer that doesn't improve the squad in any way.

Respect your opinion but I think I've seen very little of Negredo. Technically Dzeko is far more limited than Negredo. Negredo brings something to the game besides goals. 24? Expensive? Well I think that compared to Cavani is quite economical and there are not many differences between the two.

I'm sure if Negredo signed for the City will surprise you pleasantly.

Silliest post of the day.
Now please explain why it's the silliest post...

Because we're two strikers down and the addition of a proven goalscorer from a major league can only improve the squad. How you can't see that is jawdropping.

Cavani + 60M or Kun = maybe, on a good day

yours or his.

for all you flappers: Negredo scored more league goals last year than Aguero/Tevez/Dzeko/Mario/Lewandowski/Rooney/Suarez/Higuain/Benzema/Torres.

7th highest scorer in Europe's top leagues last season. Only Messi, Ronaldo, Ibra, Falcao, Cavani and RVP scored more.

Alvaro Negredo has scored more goals than any other Spanish player since his La Liga debut

all this while playing for a average team.

now shut it , give me 20mil for negredo than spending 54 million on Cavanin anyday. cavani is better but that price is disgusting

The fee quoted is 20 million EUROS not 24 million pounds sterling!

People can of course prefer a Cavani or a Falcao to Negredo & I'm sure there is a fair argument for that.

Suggesting Negredo is a poor player or not worthy of a 2nd/3rd striker spot in our squad is ridiculous though & not a reasonable argument at all.
Exactly. In fact, I don't think I've seen anyone suggest that Cavani isn't the better player, just that he's not worth the extra money over Negredo.

His record of 70 goals from 139 La Liga games speaks for itself, At the end of the day Txiki, Ferran and Pellegrini are aware of his talent more than anyone of us on this forum

And the fact that he has played with both Navas and Silva before is a bonus as they will now each others playing style.

My argument is this regarding this lad.

Is he at the same level or better than Tevez??

I always thought the rule with signings was that they have to be at least as good if not better than the players they replace. Sorry not seen much of this lad but I doubt he will be better or as good as Tevez. I am slightly concerned regarding our striking options.

Aguero-World fucking class of that there is no doubt.
Dzeko-Not good enough-Had enough time to form my opinion
Guidetti-Not even sure this lad will be fit in time for the season and one hell of a risk thinking he will be at the required level
Negredo-Not seen enough of him.
Yes he is. Tevez scored 15 league goals in two seasons.

You can't make a statement saying he's better than tevez mate
None of us know that yet
I guess we will find out soon enough
Is he a better goal scorer than Tevez? Well yes, he scores more goals. I can make that statement and have done. Or do you think we will miss the 7.5 league goals per season Tevez provided in the last 2 years when we finished 1st and 2nd?

A couple goals less than falcao in a crapper team for half the price? No brainier for me. We could spend the extra on another forward, another winger and cover at centre half and still have spare change to buy platini an ice cream.

ADL can fuck off valuing Cavani at £54m. Only chelski or real will pay that IMO.
