Accoding to Germanys biggest and mostly very well informed newspaper BILD, Ilkay Gündogan is going to renew his contract this week until 2017.

im sure a release clause if any was upped as well. don't think this would put us off as long as hes keen on a move

Not sure if the BVB management is dealing with release clauses anymore. They know their value for young upcoming players by now and will try to decline clauses and rather raise the wages. Götze left out of nowhere, Reus got one for next summer of about 35m euros. This incertainty is poison for a club's future plannig.

The Sunday Times this weekend was reporting Ferguson was looking to raid Dortmund for Gündoğan and Lewandowski.
Both very talented players.
I would like us to get Gündoğan if we could get one.
I cant imagine them letting any more players go with Goetze going to Bayern and Lewandowski possibly going to the rags?

If Gundogan renews expect Dortmund to not make the same mistakes again and give him a £50million release clause or something.

saw that as well and think that the rags are priced out of a move for both especially since every german journo type + the players agent have been saying that lewandowski will not be coming to the PL this summer.

I really like Gundogan, but I dont think we really need someone of his type. Someone like Khedira, or more of a box to box midfielder. That Rode kid from Eintracht Frankfurt would be a start. He's quick, he runs all day long, and he's hard in the tackle. He reminds me a lot of Vidal. We already have a deep lying playmaker in Yaya as you can see here, http://youtu.be/SPKbQzXQ4es and the many other amazing passes he has played over the past few years. Although Rodwell could also be that athletic box to box midfielder we're looking for, he just needs to get healthy for an extended period of time.

biggest need first is defensive midfielder, preferably someone who is quick also as a lot of our midfielders can be a bit slow, someone to quicken the pace would be good. DM before someone like Gundogan.

I definately think we need a defensive midfielder who can help us push on in Europe.

Barry does a fantastic job of allowing Yaya to play his game whilst he sweeps up the mess, however in Europe I still think he has question marks over his head, with the main issue being his pace.

I also think English midfielders struggle to read technical and on the floor football that is typically found in Europe, in the PL you can get away with it a little as it's not the best technically the lower you go down the league and tactics sometimes are almost out of the window when you get your 'hoof' teams, its a percentages game then.

That's what I think anyway, I could be wrong but its just what I see.
