“City in crisis”

It’s not a “crisis” by any stretch.

We are in a very difficult moment brought about by injuries to very significant players, and injuries to some who are not as important but cumulatively add up to a pretty big problem.

Unavailable/unfit/not properly match fit last night:

Kev
Rodri
Grealish
Doku
Stones
Dias
Ake
Walker

Arguably 8 starters.

The fact we had a kid no one had heard of until last week playing his first CL game at CB tells us all we need to know.

The fact we’ve had to play Nunes on both wings last night tells you even more. The man isn’t even any good in his preferred position let alone on the wing ffs.

Not a great deal Pep can do with it given the current context. We just need to dig in and ride it out.

We’ll be absolutely fine once we get a few bodies back.

If we let anybody go on international duty we need our heads testing.

Problem is the writing has been on the wall with this squad - and losing Rodri v Arsenal i think was too bigger blow - although he may have needed a long mid season rest anyway.
I don't see it. You have the best team and the best coach - you got beaten 4-1 by a team that should have been 4-0 down to you after 30 minutes.

It'll pass. I'll wager now you won't finish below Liverpool this season.

On my annual visit home last year I saw 1 win in 6 prem league games & was chased to the airport. I came a bit earlier this year & saw 4 wins & a draw.

I told my mates it’s not my fault, it’s just a November thing. We all thought we’d have a slow start but we didn’t & we are nicely placed.

It’s going to take the whole team awhile to adjust not having Rodri.

Pep has already tried Gundo/kova and kova/bernie in the middle. Letting Lewis have a free role is not working. Yes he recycles the ball well but we don’t have the ball enough anymore.

City camp out on the edge of the opponents box. We would squeeze teams and run them ragged until we scored 1/2/3 goals.

Fast forward to now and we camp out but lose the ball after 1/2 passes in the opposition half leaving the defenders scrambling back to no avail.

Sort out the lack of passing and composure in the box and the Rodri issue dosent seem such a big problem. Wingers who take a man on and lose possession is also another issue. Feel like we are stuck between 2 systems and it shows. So either go direct and fast leaving the defence to drop or go for full on ball retention players and hope the camped out approach works.

The team is evolving but what is it evolving into? The old sane/sterling model or the pass pass pass to death system.

I agree with almost all of that, especially your comments about those who won't criticise when something is clearly wrong.
I also agree about the players highlighted apart from Lewis who is still coming to terms with first-team football at any level and Akanji who started in Istanbul.
Yeah lewis is cut a lot of slack due to age and i dont think hes found his actual position yet. Playing this hibrid RB/centre mid role is doing him no favours.

And akanji too, but hes too probe to switching off to make him top class. But i like him

Remove the last 3 results and nobody would be talking about crisis. They'd be talking about how amazing Pep and the team were for getting through a terrible injury situation without a large number of key players. Are we really that fickle to write a team of serial title winners off after losing 3 games (that we could well have won) whilst missing these players. If so, forgot the team, we are done as fans.
