I can understand foreign players taking a year to settle but Grelaish has only had to travel 90 miles up the M6. He should be giving us more than he is, let's be honest.

I think he's too one paced and predictable and he needs to show more urgency and determination because defenders have sussed him out.

I think he'll adapt to our style and come good but he's been somewhat underwhelming this season and little threat up front...

So what does Jack have to do to live up to his £100m fee ? Too name a few here are some failures Felix , Coutinho , Griezman , Dembele , Pogba and Luckaku hasnt been tearing up the league , and looks across the road at the total disaster which is £85m Sancho.
Most of the above have had years to stamp their mark where as Jack has had a few months , far too early to make a judgement leave that to the agenda driven media , we need to get behind the lad , he's giving 100% and sacrificing part of his natural game to fit into Pep's tactics and team ethic, i have no concerns about Grealish i predict in 12 months we will be salivating at his every appearance , he's a class footballer.

I do realise he needs time. Poor lad has never played a full 90 minutes in his life previously. Spent most matches on his arse having a rest for a good proportion of it. Wish people would cut him some slack...
He’s not been great admittedly. Who knows though, maybe some game time in his actual position may help him. Who’d have thought it. Seems low on confidence for me, playing the easy pass.

What’s his “actual position”? Wasn’t he the left sided attacker in a front three in a similar 433 to ours at Villa?

Nope, when I checked back out of my own curiosity they played one up top then a narrow 3 behind. Think he was the left of that but it was far more central than asking him to hug the touchline and go at the full back as our wide men do. Isn’t to say he shouldn’t have been better but it usually takes a lot of our players a year before they get into the flow of it.

The issue is not necessarily his starting position, but rather where he actually spends his time on the pitch.

These are his heat maps for league matches for Villa over the past few years, taken from sofascore.

Now here he is this season so far:

The biggest area of main activity is broadly similar, but if we look closely we can see what he's doing less of - dropping deep, drifting central, switching to the right.

Puts paid to those saying he is being played out of position.
