But he never took easy street, lost faith, gave up,or sulked.....he knuckled down and he made it work.

Calvin Philips please take note.
Yes, it might not be the case but to me it looks like his fitness/stamina has massively improved. His two way game is outstanding

Phillips should be asking Jack for pointers

Needs to cut the getting into handbags every game , stupid yellow to get , not every game needs him to be on the wind up, it will back fire one day

Other than that he played very well

Agreed. Felt like he got pulled into a couple of silly moments last night when he's usually a lot more measured (see: Atletico last season). Need him available as much as we can.

There were a few moments like that. The Dias kick out at White as well. Could have been a red. Luckily VAR and the ref were spot on last night, understanding it was a high pressure game and things were likely to boil over. Partey wrestled Haaland to the ground and in another game would have been sent off, but against understandable why the ref let it go.

I don't mind seeing a bit of edge from the players. We've been a bit soft in previous years, but with the game under control it was a bit unnecessary. Not sure what happened with Phil and Ben White at the end either.

Other than that, another excellent performance from Jack at both ends of the pitch.

The difference is that Jack always worked hard, he just needed time to go from an obsession with Pep's ball retention instruction to integrating it with the freedom of playing his natural game. Once he got confidence and stopped judging himself on every pass that didn't come off and every shot that didn't go in he's become unstoppable.

Kalvin comes on and does fuck all. It's fine he isn't as good as Rodri, but not running hard or putting the effort in is unacceptable. He's contributed nothing this season. Pep would have wanted to rest Gundo or Bernie in the Cup semi but couldn't because he knows Kalvin isn't good enough. He had to wait until 3-0 to bring him on.
