I think that his assist output speed was actually quite well if looking at the 2nd half of last season after Cancelo left. And he rarely took set pieces or corners.Could he improve his goal/assist output? Of course. But his being our outball, pressure relieving and defensive work proved far more valuable last season than having a few more goals and assists. So I'd take last seasons version of Grealish again please
Goal side I think that he will never be a great goal scorer. But to be fair he has never been really put into his scoring zone often for City. According to his scoring history at Villa, his shooting hot zone is left half space in the box and it was usually occupied by Cancelo or Gundo in his first two seasons.
Just clarify I am not complaining about the way Pep uses him. I think it makes a lot of sense. I just don't think that Grealish goal output will increase a lot unless someone goes outside him on the left providing width. Don't think it will happen this season...
