Grealish played his first league for us as an attacking midfielder, away at Spurs, but that was when we had Sterling and ’he who cannot be named’ on the left. He also played there when we lost to Liverpool at Wembley, in which he was arguably our best player in that second half. He can play in the middle, but he’s had to make do on the left because we simply had nobody else that was experienced. Now that Doku and Gvardiol have games under their belt, there is no reason why Grealish couldn’t play more in the middle. However, he’d be at the mercy of the hatchet men in there, so it’s not without risk.

He was more central playing fr Villa
He might have drifted in there more than he does for us as the main man but he certainly didn't lineup there. he was almost always left side of midfield as he is for us. He's said this himself. He also fairly recently talked about how hard it was to play directly against walker our right back as a left midfielder during his villa days

You failed to mention that grealish was shifted from a central position back out to the left for the second half of that liverpool defeat where you say he was arguably our best player after he and the 10 others on the pitch were a total disaster in the first half when he played central.

The idea grealish hasn't played centrally because he's needed on the left is just crazy. Central is a much more critical area that would obviously be prioritised ahead of left wing. Theres been times during grealish's time here where we've had nothing in midfield and we've had to throw a raw Rico in there against big sides when he had next to no experience, rico did great, rose to the challenge and proven himself capable but Pep isnt doing that if he thought grealish could play central instead.

We can all speculate on reasons why, but after 3 years it should be abundantly clear to everybody by now that Pep does not consider Grealish as an option in central midfield and this constant desire to see it when it's very unlikely to happen needs to die.

I’m merely pointing out that he has played there on occasion. He’s also played more games as centre forward, but I’m not suggesting we convert him into one. I actually agree and think his best position is on the left where he has mastered the pausing role. I think he can play in the middle when the play is broken up and space is available, but I much prefer him on our left and would fear for his career if he played infield.

Wembley is where the voices in Peps head live.

I don't recall his first game, no reason not to take your word for it on that but a debut and then one half there in one of the teams worst ever halves of football under pep before being switched back to the left in 3 seasons worth of football to date doesn't really qualify as him being able to play there in my eyes. Bernardo silva has played more than that as a left back and I wouldn't say he can play left back in that he's a viable option there.

Then why buy him if he’s not his type?
That question has puzzled me for a long time now. Jack isn't a left winger. I don't really know what he is, a free ranger ?? Yet he's played there on the left wing..
I never watch England, what position does Boregate play him in ?
Hey fanboy, no drugs needed to see Grealish has been underwhelming last season.
He has. City badly needed a goal on Saturday and Pep didn't want put his most expensive player on.

If Jack stays I really don't know what position he will fill next season. If he is stuck out left he will not be a goal threat or attempt to beat his defender outside (both things that Doku does).
I don't think he has the quick vision and he's not a one touch player like Foden and DeBruyne.
I guess we have to wait and see what happens.

The hatchet men?

FFS, he loves getting tackled, he encourages it, that's one of the problems with him.

Do you work for The Sun? One of the most dramatic and fictional posts I've ever read on this forum. I rarely post so it's some achievement to get me to bite.

He's had a bad season by our extremely high standards. He's human like the rest of us...it doesn't mean he's an alcoholic and it certainly doesn't mean he's an alcoholic because he has ADHD.

Its actually quite offensive to even suggest as such.

Hope he has a great Euros and is back next season to prove his doubters (embarrassingly high number of City fans included) wrong. If he isn't, we'll move on and no doubt he will and have a great career regardless.

CTID!
Well, obviously I'm not his roommate, but you can make assumptions about his alcoholism based on his public demeanour. He is similar to Rooney and Gascoigne in this regard. If he didn't have an alcoholism problem, he wouldn't get as smashed as he does every time City have a bus parade.
