There are certain players who can never win with a certain contingent of our supporters. It was the same with Sterling, it will forever be the same with Grealish.

"Remember last season when he was really good?"
"Nah forget that, what about his first season when he was shit"

Some people are just relentlessly negative and unfortunately there's nothing anyone can say to snap them out of it.

I think the main issue with fans is lack of consistency. Everyone can see Jack is a superb technical player and on his day would get in any side. But he does suffer from fitness problems and seems to take a long time to recover from them. You often see players' form dip after winning trophies but I am certain Pep will not tolerate this happening at City. Grealish needs time to get up to speed but he won't be given special treatment.

Very poor last night from Jack. Hopefully it's blip but Jeremy will give him a big challenge for that first starting 11. He did what Jack should have been doing as soon as he came on yesterday
They are totally different players. If you are expecting Grealish to start playing like Doku, then you’re in for a long wait.

Grealish plays as a wide number 8, whereas Doku is a winger.

The whole team last night lacked creativity. Grealish did his thing of bringing us up the pitch, but the timing of passes was all off everywhere last night because of the lack of game time together.

Let’s see what happens on Saturday with a stronger side out.

Yeh bud different players - but I still like to see Jack attempt to take a player on every now and again. Especially when what he's doing isn't working after the 12th time trying it. Just a bit of spark from him would have done. I was more referring to Doku bringing energy and quick movement than the specifics of the position. Jack looked sluggish and not very reactive. It's one game though of course but I'm only isolating yesterdays performance.

Don't worry If pep thought he was injured in the slightest he wouldn't have played.
What, you mean like he wouldn't have played Laporte who literally had to drag himself and us across the finish line in 21/22 to the detriment of his city career? He was carrying a knee injury, needed injections, made it worse, then lost his pace in the team whilst he was out for six months and couldn't get back in.

Or like Kev who admitted he played the run in last season with small hamstring tears resulting in two subsequent injuries and surgery?

You mean like that?

Pep obviously felt it wasn't hindering him.

He was so bad he looked like he had no pre-season and as if he was returning from injury or something. Very concerning.
"had no pre season" people here will say anything, true or false, to justify their opinions. He's started all our pre season games! He's had the same pre season as everyone else! what on earth are you talking about?

Also, he missed 3 games through injury! 3! He wasn't injured for 6 months ffs.

He didn't say that. People here will read anything to justify their opinion.
:-)

Hard read this thread since last night, seems to be split in opinions, those who think Jack can't do no wrong and the rest are nothing but cunts who can fuck off.
Both entitled to an opinion but strangely the second category don't seem to know any swear words or perhaps don't feel the need to use them.
Jack has gone from no proper pre- season, to coming back after injury.
I hope both could have a bearing but last night was a shocker - yes I know the drill, I'm now a **** and now fucking off ( for a while)
