Gutted for Jack but it's a completely fair enough decision. For a number of reasons he's had a very up and down year, and with the likes of Palmer, Mainoo, Gordon, Eze, etc. all having good seasons it was becoming increasingly harder for Southgate to justify leaving one of them at home for Jack.

Hopefully this is a blessing in disguise and leaves him feeling like he's got a point to prove next season. He probably needs a bit of a rest considering he hasn't gone more than a month without a niggle or an injury or an illness for about a year now. Clearly been a tough period for him personally. Hope he clears his head.

I don’t think he can really have too many complaints. He’s had a bad season simple as that and other players have had better seasons.
Thought when he came on last England game he brought a different outlet and option to the team, we know what he is capable of and I’m sure he would improve the England team, at least he’ll get a rest and come back all the better unless he’s going on the piss!

Shame for the lad. It seems his impressive cameo the other night wasn't enough to turn waistcoat's head. He was, at best, so so during the season; even he'd probably admit that. This is a big summer for him now. Go away for a couple of weeks on a beach somewhere, come back fully rested, and get his head down and prove waistcoat wrong.

Blessing in disguise for him I think - gives him fuel to really kick on next season

Grealish Haaland Bobb front 3 for community shield then

Jack's had a very stop start season with injuries and poor form. No doubting his talent, but he needs a good pre season and show to Pep he deserves a starting place.

In the long run it’s the best thing for him and city imo. He needed this reality check after some poor training sessions and being left out of city squads etc.

Couple of weeks holiday then get back at it. Show Pep that he means business, busting a gut through pre-season and if possible, in a few weeks before the others. Could be make or break time next season so he’s got to be at the peak of his powers and ready to deliver consistently and hopefully be injury/illness free as well as any personal problems being resolved. We know what he can do on his day, I for one really hope he does it. He’s a good lad is Jack and an excellent player on his day too. Good luck Jack.
