Grealish hasd a free role in attacking midfield at Villa.

I can’t imagine him as a CDM, but Pep is a mad bastard, so who knows?

DM is the hardest position in football. We're not going to try and shoehorn our £100 million winger into it. He has good passing range and can beat a press very well but I'm not sure he has the defensive nous to play there and I doubt he can learn it in a few weeks.

Interestingly I didn't feel like he was any better than he normally is. Lots of sighs round me in the ground aswell. Leaves me quite frustrated at times. As with all the ball carrying, beating the man coming inside there is very little to end product. And there never has been.

Has a place in the team because of ball retention etc, but feel like he's behind Doku/Savinho

Not sure what game you were watching mate. He was miles better than his usual performance.

good assist & other dangerous attacking actions but Trippier is older than him..he has to track back

Great 1st half but faded 2nd
Certainly winds the opposition up
Amazing stat that he hasn’t scored in 2024

Great ball for the goal but needs to be creating/ adding to our forwa4d play consistently.....after 3 seasons with us he needs to step up and be getting goals and assists regularly......he aids the team in controlling the game which we all know pep wants but when we lose KDB for instance he needs to take a step forward regularly.

Overall a good game.. ( but needs to also not allow himself to be the pantomime villain) and hopefully more to come

Abysmal that isn’t it? It doesn’t matter whether you’re wanting Grealish in the side or Doku instead of him. A wide forward going 9 months without a goal in this side is atrocious.

Really nice assist and pretty strong performance. I think we need a more attacking RW if Grealish is starting, but that’s hardly his fault.

I do think it is also true that the bar is lower for Jack than most players - that exact same performance would not be considered ‘brilliant’ if Sterling, Jesus, Doku or Mahrez put it it, just decent - but again I don’t see that as Jack’s fault. The fanbase has clearly grown extremely protective of him and I’d rather that than have thousands of supporters abusing him every game. It’s fair enough.
