I've got no problem with a player who hasn't played for us in a while getting minutes with England.
It's when we've got players who look fucked and aren't at their best and then go and play twice for their national team when it's really frustrating.
De Bruyne for example could probably benefit from a run out in the internationals, as long as he'd not flogged for 90 mins in both. But Akanji definitely would be best to skip it.

Does this imply he will be fit for Brighton? If not he shouldn’t be anywhere near the England squad.

All points towards a mental thing. Could be Jacks partner is suffering post partum or something along those lines and Pep always puts family first.
