For only a second performance, and WHU’s goal apart, this was brilliant. Exciting too.

No disrespect to Jack but he’s got real competition here. For tuna telly (spell check WTF but I like it!) for Jack, the hard miles implementing Pep’s tactical requirements will keep him in pole position for the time being. That said, Jez’s speed and ability to penetrate both inside and outside will give him plenty to think about.

The hysterical shit written in the match day threads is why i hardly bother reading it anymore. It's much more enjoyable watching the game than worrying what clueless armchair numpties think.
You’re missing out, mate. I like to take a look at half time when we’re losing or struggling. The entertainment value is right up there.

Exactly this, wingers will lose possession and it’s up to our defenders to be positioned correctly in anticipation of it.
I was surprised that Ake did not start today. TBH. He clearly gave more confidence to the wingers ahead of him, no matter Raz or Jack.

No disrespect to Josko but I see him more like a pure center back. Not enough support for the wingers, defensively or offensively. Ake at least offers enough cover and good width, and occasionally offers something forward. I wonder if we can see both of them start and Ake wide.

Considering it was posted at 4:02 and he scored at 4:04 (?) this might have aged quicker than any message on bluemoon which in itself is remarkable considering it's a place where we're all wrong almost all of the time.

He's in good company at least.
Hehe managed to have a dig at him at 4.05 but seems to have all been deleted!

We've never had any winger so direct as him in this performance since I think Martin Petrov. Even Sane and Sterling were much more reluctant to use their abilities. Sane always needed more space and Sterling always seemed to dribble as a last resort.

I love the speed with which he receives the ball and the drives with it, it doesn't give the opposite fullback time to set up and the defence to get organised, creates absolute chaos.

Early days but very exciting.

he’s now a hero but without that goal he’d be absolutely skinned alive.

he’s very young, didn’t have much time with pep, has to adapt to a new league and a new team (same as gvardiol basically). where’s the patience, what happened to a year under pep?

it was his second game, i think he was great.

This stats does not mean he offers what a full back needs to do to support his wide man. Same as Cancelo when he played on the left. Well this is a thread for Doku. So my point is that I prefer Ake to be the wide defender to support the winger.

That’s not true. He’d have taken some flak in here, but the ball pinged out to him from Rodri wasn‘t the best pass.

City fans always give youth a chance, especially when it‘s a player as direct as Doku.

oh i didn’t mean just this forum, in general. this forum is pretty zen compared to some social media platforms.

Pep will spend a lot of time teaching him to understand when to go past a player, or when to just play short/pass and move.

This is a problem with a lot of quick players, in they have never been coached at the top level to understand when the right time is.

Vinnicius is a good example of this, and it has to be coached into them early. Doku literally couldn't be in better hands given his raw ability.
I think is learning so much already as his game has improved a lot since his last game. With time he might play with Grealish and it will be sight for sure. The qualities they both have on the wings can compliment each other.

He played very well today, once pep has worked on his decisions in the final third then I can see him being immense for us.

He will also have to work on his defensive side, like Grealish does.

Overall two games in and looks promising
