Looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow… below is what Thierry Henry said about him in the summer.

'When you're 1v1 with him — pray'

So exciting to watch. I genuinely look forward to it whenever he gets on the pitch. Before he signed we were told all about his incredible 1v1 abilities and bloody hell is he showing his worth so far!

The quality of this player is surprisingly good.

Very good 1 vs 1..
Rarely looses the ball
Pass Accuracy
Pace
Defensive duties..

If he continues like that, 60m club payed, looks like a bargain for me...

He looks like an upgraded version of Sterling...

Played very well, beats his man so effortlessly and is unpredictable. Unfortunate to be the man to come off, felt we should have kept him on, his pace and 1v1 ability on the break could have been our best source of killing it but hard decision to make and understandable why he was the sacrifice.

Doku has fit into the system immediately. He is a scarily good prospect. More importantly, there is noone trying to justify him as people felt the active need to do with Cole Palmer.

Very unfortunate he get subbed too early because tactical changes to accomodate ten player only on the pitch.

He did well in the first half.

I expected him to struggle at first but happy to be wrong. The pace and skill is obvious but he's also intelligent and works hard. Good player

Exciting player but he’s going to have to learn to be more cynical; he’s incredibly strong and incredibly honest. Had he stayed down after being clobbered by Coufal at West Ham and today by Montiel, both players would probably have been booked. Alas, he’s back on his feet and back in the fray in a flash. I attribute his resilience partly to his enthusiasm to play and partly to his teammates not being quick enough to get over and protect him. The referees are looking for an out in such situations (it’s disgraceful that neither player was booked), so we need to make it impossible to ignore, with Doku staying down and the players rushing over to signal their concern.

i am equally impressed by his ability to show patience and play a simple passing game as i am by his explosive bursts

I think thats a 'criticism' that can be levelled at half a dozen of our players, and while we have a couple of players the overreaction comes natural to,its clear we do not practice the antics of other clubs in training.

As for the kid himself......im very impressed.....ability and industry in spades.

A very exciting future.

Indeed. Foden is another who is prone to jumping up immediately, and Grealish likes to get up quickly, too, though I often think that is so he can carry on the verbals. An interesting comparison today was the booking Gvardiol drew for staying down after he was barely touched. The players were all around and Taylor felt compelled. Montiel’s challenge on Doku was a shocker. I want to see much more of him but won’t if he continues to get scythed down by players who go unpunished.

He’s a nightmare for defenders. I think he will be a thorn in the side of many defences this season

People are surprised, but I said this with my first post here: this kid is the truth. The only thing missing is off ball runs - today there was plenty of space to exploit between the lines for a through ball or diagonal long ball but he doesn't see it. I don't think its instructions; hes been like this for Rennes too. I get that he knows how good he is with the ball at his feet, but if you only wait for it in your feet and not run in channels, you will have less chances, and therefore less goals and assists.

Other than that he has everything. You can see now how much of a lazy comparision is between him and Adama Traore or St Maximin. Hes got three times the IQ of these two, reacts to the defense rather than just kick and run, and can actually pass the ball and make good decisions. Hes a Ronaldinho/Hazard hybrid, a gem of a player. I hope Pep notices the off ball issue and works with him on it. Just show him clips of Pedro lol
