If that's the case, then I'm even more perplexed as to why we even bought him.Maybe that isn't the job Pep has given him?
Pep tends not to play people who don't carry out the roles he sets them, after all.
He has no other attributes other than beating his man, whats the point in doing that if he's not going to deliver the ball?
Id personally like to see him and Marmoush rotate in an inverted LW role.He is a very frustrating player. Has the ability to beat players but has no end product. Also, he isn't great at tracking back
Teams are just doubling up on Doku, but if you let him drift (or Marmoush) they can have the option to be central and have shots or be wide and create (Raphinha does this at Barca).
This way, if we also get countered, we have other defensive players at the back just in case covering for them.
Thinking about it more, if Pep were to play Grealish (seems out if favour), he would also like that freedom as well...

My gut feeling with Doku is that he won’t be noticeably better in 3 or 4 years compared to how he is now. I just think this is how he will always be. He’ll hang around for a few more years because there’s open heart surgery required elsewhere in the squad. But if we had kept on top of the squad planning and didn’t need a drastic rebuild, Doku would be on my sell list for this summer. As it happens, selling him is so far down the list of priorities that I expect him to stay for 2 or 3 more years despite not being good enough.

He goes past players but without much end product. Exciting but yet few assists or goals. Exciting but again without much success. Ultimately one is judged according to his goals or assists and he doesn't seems to be like a guy who controls games.

Our squad planning in last few years has been not good. Bringing Nunes, Doku and even savinho (though he has shown potential to be world class) are not good enough. This season we should have sold one of debruye or bernardo but instead we bought back 34 years old gundo. Though I understand the reason behind that (we had oscar boob, mcatte, Nico O rieley and a fit rodri) but the planning was not good enough. As simple as that.

He is frustrating but I do recall him getting to the byline twice and putting the ball right in the 6 yard box and no one was there, we have big Erl who should be in that area.
What I think he needs to do is make it a bit more simple, the above example was after he would hold the ball and take players on and slowed it right down, Erl had been making runs and not getting it, so when he finally does get in a great position no one is expecting it! Same with Bernie when out wide, he slows it down too much and people stop making runs in the middle as they never get it

I cant really criticize him when there is no movement around him.
Is he expected to just unpack a defense single handedly? Thats not fair, the best you can ask a winger is to set them up for 1v1s and go, but he was double marked so often because of how slow we play.
We never built up on one side, then tried to switch to a winger for quick 1v1, no supporting runs.
Many of the players can be criticized... but to me that all points to Pep, he needs to figure out how to get them to play better.

He is Spurs level player.

I've nothing against the lad, and he is still only 22, but he's coming up to 200 first team appearances, and he has scored only 29 goals, but he barely provides either, and he does little to help out the full back, even when he's the one who put the full back in trouble.

Will get next season as other areas need work first, but could easily see him in the next round of outgoings in the following summer as it stands. Alot to like, alot to wonder about so far.
