zero end product most of the time
Most of the time we're too slow to move it wide and he's doubled up from the start, when he's one on one he usually goes past his man, and a cross to the far post is the hardest type of cross because you need to beat the entire defence with your effort, that's why we need someone to make runs to the front post like Sergio used to do.He gets the opportunity to go 1 on 1 lots of times but prefers to hold the ball allowing defenders to double up.
I'm sure Haaland is being told to go far post but neither winger ever looks like sending a cross there.
Why is a far post cross and harder than a near post cross, especially if you have a mobile 6'4" forward waiting there and you're getting paid a fortune to do exactly that..Most of the time we're too slow to move it wide and he's doubled up from the start, when he's one on one he usually goes past his man, and a cross to the far post is the hardest type of cross because you need to beat the entire defence with your effort, that's why we need someone to make runs to the front post like Sergio used to do.
Again because you need to beat the entire defence with your cross, and Haaland is anything but mobile when the ball is out wide. Why is a far post cross and harder than a near post cross, especially if you have a mobile 6'4" forward waiting there and you're getting paid a fortune to do exactly that..
He very rarely goes 1 on 1 early, preferring to hold the ball up allowing defenders yto get back. How about taking on and beating the full back near the half way line and going direct for goal?
Not if you send over an accurate cross to the right areaAgain because you need to beat the entire defence with your cross, and Haaland is anything but mobile when the ball is out wide.
Much easier to have someone make a front post run.Not if you send over an accurate cross to the right area
These are professional footballers, not sunday league playersMuch easier to have someone make a front post run.
Yeah go and find me any winger who makes consistent accurate crosses when you have your striker standing at the back post and no one else inside the box against a packed defence. These are professional footballers, not sunday league players
So why go near post with a cross or even worse, rattle a defenders legs with it. Lots of wingers easily cross to the far post, its not really all that difficultYeah go and find me any winger who makes consistent accurate crosses when you have your striker standing at the back post and no one else inside the box against a packed defence.
Absolutely no winger will look good if he's asked to play crosses to one guy at the back post standing behind a packed defence and no other teammate is in the box.So why go near post with a cross or even worse, rattle a defenders legs with it. Well you get the cross in earlier, before they pack the defenceAbsolutely no winger will look good if he's asked to play crosses to one guy at the back post standing behind a packed defence and no other teammate is in the box.
The system doesn't afford you that option. We transition drom defense to offense way too slowly.Well you get the cross in earlier, before they pack the defence
Yeah in that case the ball has to come quicker to them, not when the defence is already back anyway.Well you get the cross in earlier, before they pack the defence
Maybe that isn't the job Pep has given him?he seems to forget that his job is to get the ball into the box at the earliest opportunity when we're attacking
Not sure if serious.I'll give you Spurs but I don't remember him doing anything particularly good against Liverpool
He said Liverpool in November, referring to the game at Anfield. Not sure if serious.
