He's a Sterling 2.0 with a better low centre of gravity and better close control in tight spaces as well as explosiveness from a standing start. Unfortunately, I don't see him becoming a prolific goal scorer. Even when Sterling was scoring 15-20 goals a season, they were mainly tap-ins from close range after penetrating the penalty area centrally or attacking the far post to attack the cross from the right. Doku doesn't do that, he's a typical winger who takes on opposition fullbacks.

Marmoush has taken Sterlings old role of goal scoring LW.

When Pep subbed him on and Marmoush went RW to accomodate, I was hoping Doku would continue Marmoushs role with O Reilly out wide.

Instead, and thankfully since he made the goal, Pep kept Doku wide and inverted O Reilly into the half space as a midfielder.

And since O Reilly can play wide or in the middle ita no problem for him, and I suspect Pep simply thinks its a waste to invert Doku into crowded space when he is the most dangerous winger in the world out wide.

Great option to have... but he will almost never get any goal chances, hopefully the rest pick up the slack and concert the chances he can make instead.

Hopefully starts up against Neco Williams at Wembley.

But... As we've seen in the past two games he's not someone the opposition RB wants to see coming on at 70 mins.

Villa bypassed that by subbing their FB on when we played them first. Can see Forest do the same by subbing Neco off for their backup . Over time it will come predictable

Villa didn't really bypass it though did they? Doku skinned their replacement for the winner!

Even though it's predictable it isn't easy to stop.

Hope Aina isn't fit. As bringing him on could work in the way you've said - he's miles better than Disasi.

Personally, I think Jeremy has earned a starting spot.

As has been already expressed ad-nauseum...

Doku is a unique talent. Able to defeat defenders with his dribbling skills. But once in fantastic position to either score or deliver a telling cross - he is terrible!

For me... Doku isn't a viable starting winger. His offensive production is poor. As a change-of-pace winger - he's Ok.

For me... Doku is a sort of Adama Traore... so much talent to get into fantastic position - but once there - failing nearly always to either score or to deliver an accurate cross.

If Doku is willing to play backup perhaps he's worth keeping. Otherwise it's pretty clear that he won't improve - no improvement in out squad whatsoever in the past 2 years he's been in our side.

Personally I think that Doku is overrated - I'd look to sell him.

Jeremy Doku’s raw talent is undeniable — but his distribution remains a serious concern.

Lightning pace, sharp feet, and 1v1 ability make him electric going forward, but far too often the final ball is rushed, overhit, or misjudged. In a system like City’s, where possession and precision are everything, that’s a glaring gap.

Yes, he stretches defences and causes chaos, but if you’re consistently ending moves instead of progressing them, it becomes a liability rather than an asset. End product isn’t just about assists — it’s about decision-making under pressure, and Doku’s radar just isn’t calibrated yet.

Plenty of potential, but unless he sharpens his distribution, he risks becoming more of a YouTube highlights player than a trusted cog in a Guardiola machine

Right now, no matter what many may think of him, he's the one pulling us across the line. He’s won us games recently. We're getting Champions League football because of his 1v1 ability to penetrate the opposition’s box — unlike the constant backward passing — and frankly, right now, that’s enough for me. He’s turning 23, he still has room and time to improve. I’ve watched his training sessions; he’s working hard to improve his flaws. He’ll get there, and he’ll be a world-beater — whether it’s with us or at another club.

I agree with some of the comments but without him, we have absolutely nothing going forward. Take him out of our side at this moment and not only will we be toothless, we will be even more boring than we currently are. It will be an absolute snooze-fest.

I agree with you-his decision-making and final product in the final third still need work, but I’m confident he’ll improve with time. That said, his pace, one-on-one ability, explosive first step, and dribbling are natural gifts you just can’t teach. He’s a threat every game, almost always involved in a goal. Without him, our attack would completely lack creativity-he has to be on the pitch every game.

Pretty much 3 of the last 4 games he has won for us with bits of skill.

What is far riskier is passes like Gundogans today. Straight to a Wolves player and Kovacic out of defence, straight to a Wolves player.

We all know Doku isn’t perfect but without him in the last few weeks we would have struggled to win games.

I don’t think our performances are that much better than they were to be honest. Today and Everton were average. We are just getting over the line and getting some breaks.
