There are stats about the average length and depth of the passes, and they don't confirm your impressions. I remember such stats were posted 2-3 months ago in one of the post-match threads, Laporte and Dias didn't fare worse than Stones, if anything, their stats were better.

There's a reason why Laporte is Pep's first choice CB this season. Try ro understand why that may be.

To stop him putting a transfer request in and sulking?

There was a reason Stones and Dias were first choice last season, try to understand why that may have been.
 
Though I favour Stones and Dias, Laporte has done very well and it is great to have all three.
 
Like anyone else he has spells of indifferent form which being a centre back are magnified but over this season I think he’s been better than Dias. We’re lucky to have a perm any 2 from 3 situation - every one of them would start for every other team in the league

But that is exactly what happened pal.

Stones was parked on the shitty excuse that he had reached the euro final and Laporte got in and despite a distinctly iffy start he kept his place and Stones has been left kicking his heels far too much this season.

It's weird people could believe that Pep would play an inferior player and harm the team only because said player wanted to leave. Again, Pep isn't that silly.

Not inferior. Just not superior. If he hadn't made a fuss about leaving, there was no reason to bench Stones.

Pep generally keeps you on it you perform. It was why Laporte was stuck on the bench in the first place. Cos the other 2 were performing. At no point did they stop doing that.

It's all speculation. But it looks clear he was unfairly favored at the start of the season.
 
Has Laporte not been playing more this season simply because we've had a right footed left back?

Not that he's not a really talented player or anything but that's the only reason that makes sense (in a Pep sort of way) as to why Stones and Dias hasn't been our mainstay partnership this year.

Stones suffered from injuries in the first months of the campaign and Laporte did well in that period, arguably better than Dias. There was no reason to bench Laporte after Stones got fit. Pep benched Dias vs Chelsea in January and played both Stones and Laporte. Obviously, Laporte is first choice this season. If he loses form, Pep will bench him, the team comes first.

Again, I've never argued he should be benched. Just pointing out Stones was benched pre-injury.

Also Stones has been better than both Laporte and Dias. So my position was that he should be starting ahead of either one.

Look matey, he broke up last seasons main partnership of Stones and Dias and said Stones needed a rest when be blatantly didn't.

Have you another reason for us as to why Stones lost his place and then didn't even get it back when Laporte made errors and got the red card?

Seems funny that Laporte isn't making the same I want to leave noises.

It is called a discussion board not the Pep is perfect thread.

Stones and Dias are the best partnership by a country mile.

Stones had multiple injuries after the Euros until December. That's why he barely played at CB in the first half of the season. Refresh your memories.

You are entitled of your opinion, I'm happy to trust Pep's view over yours.

One of the reasons I don't envy Pep's job is that there are a lot of people who pretend to know better what's good for the team and the club. Pep is not perfect but is miles more intelligent than the average fan.

in your opinion , ball playing its laporte and stone , if we are up against a big fucker then dias and stones, saying stones and dias is the best by a country mile is wrong, maybe a hair's width, imo
 
I feel comfortable with any pairing out of the three starting. All have positives and negatives but overall we are very lucky to have them all and trying to balance the game time can't be easy.
Stones and Dias would be my personal first choice but can't say I'm too upset when it doesn't happen.

Laporte of 3 seasons ago was a phenomenal defender, not so much since then, he is still a great defender but he has become prone to some horrible individual errors.

For me and yes it is my opinion, though it does seem a few share it on here, Stones and Dias for me, I have also stated the next best pair is Stones and Laporte, I just don't like Dias and Laporte together, they seem more prone to errors together but not so much with Stones next to them.
