The drop off from Laporte to Ake is arguably too great for us, and the latter’s ability to play left back is no justification for preferring him. Peculiar position we’ve found ourselves in, but if Laporte is hankering for a return to Spain, then we’ll do all we can to facilitate that.

Not if the reason for the hankering is lack of game time.

Class end of. Best passer of our 3 CBS and looks comfortable playing with either. So much better than Ake it’s untrue.

Really hope he stays. We're a Dias/Stones injury or dip and form away from being shaky at the back, to say the least. And as much as I love Stones he's hardly been a picture of consistency or health. I also think Dias played far too much last year and suffered for it at the end of the season.

If Laporte can get back to his pre-injury form, it'd be tough to keep him out of the side. He's the best passer of our CBs and that's so important in this team.

Good game. He didn’t look like a player who is causing trouble. Maybe it’s all made up nonsense. Dias & Laporte looked more settled against Norwich.

Fuck knows what is going on behind close doors. City keep council very well.

If that's him wanting out, I can live with him being unhappy here for another few seasons at least. We've needed a centre back every year for the last half a decade, we finally have that crucial position nailed, we simply cannot let him leave. Force him to stay, I expect he will play more this year then re-evaluate his happiness next summer.

Never heard Pep say this before IMO.
Sounds like some blatant window dressing for a transfer to pull off the needed cash for a Kane deal, and a squad place.

Don't mind if Laporte stays, I'm undecided what to think about Aké. I admit I'm a bit blended by Aké's likeable personality, but he's maybe a bit too nice - or needs more minutes to show what's in him.

He actually said it before.

Ok, I might be completely wrong.
What would Pep say about Dias though? Best right footed LCB?
What about VVD?
Something doesn't sit right about Pep's compliment. IMO there was an intention by Pep, but I'll stop guessing now and enjoy a 5-0 without any strikers.
