Anywhere in the front 2 (either main man or second striker) and he is so dangerous.

I hope Pep doesn't rotate him on the wings, it's firstly not necessary as there is plenty there, and secondly he is way deadly in a free central role.

Yesterday's system, I think if he did play on the wing, I'd prefer the LW because that's the one where Phil had license to drift centrally as the LB stayed wide. Our RW had to stretch on the other side and that would be a complete waste of Alvarez.
Last night was he a no 10 ? And if so was Gundogan also a no 10?

Has Pep just created a new formation that has two no 10s?

Whatever role he was playing last night - I hope he plays it again ASAP.

He kind of played behind Haaland.

I mean the 433 we played years ago with Kdb and David Silva was basically a formation with two 10s.

What a signing this lad is going to be. He tracks back, he chases down, he presses at speed, he diverts defenders to create holes for others to run into, he has good skills and lays the ball off well and he is lethal in front of goal with either foot.

People need to remember Alvarez didn't have friggin extended break this year, we need to be careful to manage his minute or he will get burnout. Also he playing for World Cup and seems have very important role in there so no break for him during World Cup either.

We need him to be able to play for full season and not getting burnout at the end of season.

It’s like Pep doesn’t want the expectation to go over the top so let’s not play him clam all down and play him on Tuesday

I would have liked him on like many of us.

But I suppose trust in Pep. This with the World Cup situation and City fighting on so many fronts is going to be a long season.

I trust that he will get plenty of game time.
